Looking for Best Laundry Spot Remover

I recommend Oxy Clean spray. When my children were babies I kept it by the laundry basket and sprayed it before I put it in the basket. Then I would go through it again before putting it in the washer. I still use it now and what I have learned is that you have to let it sit for 15 minutes before you get it wet in the washing machine. It gets out almost anything.

WalMart used to sell a spot remover in the baby section that was especially good at cleaning food, spit-up, etc. from baby clothes. It was fantastic and I started using it on everything. I don't know if they still sell it, but it was in a white spray bottle with a pink label. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the product --but it was really, really good at removing any type of "baby" stains.

While I have had a lot of success with Dreft spray, a friend told me about a product called bananna oil. apparently it can even get out permanent marker!! I am not positive where you get it, I do know it isn't at a specialty store. It is in the laundry aisle at the grocery store or Target but maybe not ALL of them.

It's funny to see the varied responses here, because when I asked the same question several months ago the responses were almost universally "OXYCLEAN." I got it, and it works! I even removed stains that were supposedly set in for good in a box of hand-me-down clothes. I usually just soak the stained clothes for several hours before washing -- like, put them in the washer, a plastic bin, or the sink in the morning, then start laundry at the kids' nap time.

Hi J.. I have a nearly 9 month old son as well and when I feed luckily the mess is kept to a minimum but when my husband feeds him...OMG!!! It looks like a disaster zone! He gets food EVERYWHERE. In fact, today he just spent over an hour cleaning the highchair. The 2 types of stain/spot remover that I use are Shout and Oxyclean. I use the spray but the gel is wonderful, too. I prefer the spray because it's easier to get it onto a larger area. Hope this helps. Where do you live by the way? I moved here to Lewisville (my husband grew up here) from Ft. Worth and have no friends here. My best friend is in Hurst and we see each once every couple of months. I would love to meet someone with a baby close to Rhys' (pr. Reese) age. We are also trying for another baby as well.

Shout has always worked great for me.

I use a product called 'PreSpot'. It is fantastic! It has spaghettios stains out of white t-shirts for me! Another great thing about it is that it doesn't have any harsh chemicals in it either. It is wonderful that it works so well. :)

yes, I agree, it's a constant struggle to keep their clothes spot free! I use clorox bleach pen/stick on my white clothes and I like the shout gel pen/stick for colors. I just bought the Spray -n- Wash dual power and it's pretty good. From what I've experienced the best way is to treat the stain as quickly as possible and let it soak in cold water.

Melaleuca has 2 different products that get the stain out the first time, yes even sweet potatoes and carrots. Message me to know more.

I have the same issue with my 10month old DD.

Wash the item asap and put a little bit of whatever laundry detergent liquid you have on hand. Then wash when you do your regular wash.

Otherwise, I like oxyclean, too. But it has to be mixed in with HOT water to be most effective.

I use Totally Toddler. It always took out carrots and such from my daughters clothes. You can find it at walmart I think, but I always get mine a babies r us.

Try the blue Dawn dish soap, it works like a charm especially on carrots and sweetpotatoes. My grandmother always swore by it and I do now too.

I have had the best luck with OxyMagic made by Clorox. It has worked better than Oxiclean for me. If for some reason I can't find Oximagic, my second choice is the Dual power Spray and Wash (it has pink liquid on one side and clear/white on the other.

I have had amazing success with OxyMagic...not OxyClean...but OxyMagic. I think it is by Clorox. I really believe it to be magic! I spray the stains (sometimes the entire outfit) and let it sit for awhile, and usually the stains have disappeared before they even make it to the wash. There have been several times that I thought that I was just going to have to throw the outfit away because it was so stained, but OxyMagic has gotten it out every time.
I would give it a try!

Hi! SHAM mom to a 2 year little monster that is so sweet when he wants to be (lol), and married to a wonderful husband of 5 years now. I have found that if you put shout gel on the clothes and let them sit for a day or so it works great. My son gets mustard stain for eating corn dogs all the time and it seems to work great. I use the Dreft spray, but it may take several times to do it. I will spray it on, wait for it to dry on there, spray it again, wait for it to dry... sometimes three times is a charm. Then I wash it. If I spray once, then run it through the wash, it doesn't always come out. It's almost like magic how it starts to disappear. So, don't give up after one shot of it! Hope that works for you!

I also used the baby dreft stain remover. I was bad about washing them right away and it always came out perfect. I even used it on all of my sons bibs and to this day even my bibs are still spot free. I was very happy with it. good luck.

There's one item that so far has worked wonderful on EVERYTHING! It is an AMWAY product called Pre-Wash Spray. Someone told me about it 15 years ago and I've never quit using it because it works better than anything else on the market. If you decide you want some, just email me back and I'll order you some when I place my next order. Or, you can have one of my recently ordered cans to try.

One time when I was out of my Pre-Wash spray, I tried Tracie O's suggestion and it works really well too. The only drawback there is the possible fading problem.

My first suggestion is to just take off the babys clothes all together when you eat at home like I do with my 11 month old :) But, with 3 kids, my favorite trick is to let the washer fill with hot water, Biz (powdered stain remover in the laundry isle...blue box) and some laundry detergent, and leave it to soak overnight. When I get up the next day, I just finish running it, and most every stain comes out. I cant think of a time it did not work. I dont always catch the older kids stains, so I usually do that once or twice a week, just in case!! Good luck ~A.~

I use the Baby Oxyclean and that seems to get all of the mystery stains out...sometimes I have to soak the item twice before I run it throught the washer, about 3 hours each with warm water. Hope this helps!

Known as "the last resort" stain remover, because it can remove color if you're not careful here is THE recipe. I used it alot when mine were little and the yucky baby formula throw up stains would go away.

In a sink mix:
1 gallon of very hot water (like almost boiling but remember your hands will have to touch it)
1 cup of powder dishwasher detergent
1 cup of regular bleach
and I always used a quarter cup of regular laundry powder too.

mix it and dip in the stained part of the clothing for just a few minutes and check it out. If it is still there you can soak it up to fifteen minutes. Then wash as usual.

I used to get the sink ready and the washer, and do baby shirt after baby shirt and just toss into the washer. Colored and white shirts. It worked great but one time the phone rang and I left one of my sun-dresses that had baby vomit on it in the sink and when I came back much later, it was white instead of blue.

I use Baby Dreft Stain Remover. It works on everything for me. Even ones that I don't take off and rinse and spot right away. Like when my kids have stayed with family and I get their clothes back days later dirty with all kinds of spots. I saturate the spots with Dreft, let them sit for 5-10 minutes and then wash them.

Well I think tide to go works awsomely on colored clothes and Bleach Pen works great for whites, it's better then any of the others I've tried as of late and I use them constantly hope this helps!

soaking my daughter's clothes in oxyclean got out blueberries and spaghetti sauce, among other things. it's not super convienent because it has to soak for a few hours, but it does work. also, i stripped my daughter down when she was at this messy eating stage :) good luck!
