This past month I have given the pink slip to my dishwasher for falling down on the job. Instead of getting down and dirty, Mr. Dishwasher just scraped the surface of my plates, leaving me with clean food residue. Now who needs that? So the effort I had to put into prewashing with old-fashioned elbow grease wasn't worth wasting more water for Mr. Dishwasher to do a glorified rinse. So take that!
I also fired my mop also for underperforming. Despite my attempts to scrub ingrained lord-knows-what off the floor, Mr. Mop just didn't cut it. But when I got down on all fours with a sponge, the results were well, sparkling.
So I've come to the conclusion that elbow grease is best and can count toward the core of my fitness routine!!
What appliances have you fired lately and who is your replacement!
Well, I recently fired the entire laundromat, and hired a lovely young couple to live in what was previously my storage room. I am LOVING having a washer and dryer of my own!!! :D
Since our very furry doggie passed away last August, I haven't been nearly as intimate with Mr. Dyson!
Though she's not an appliance, I would like to fire our maid. She does laundry but doesn't fold it, she shoves toys in the corner or in closets, dishes can stay in the sink for days and vacuums maybe once a week if she has time....oh wait I'm the maid. Oh well I guess I'll keep her. :-)

We fired our Whirlpool Gold kitchen appliances, which disliked to: dry dishes (dishwasher), heat things (stove top took 20 minutes to heat a pot of water and this was a gas range!) and cook evenly (oven). Also fired our old Kenmore fridge, which had a cranky ice maker that would periodically stop working and threaten the whole fridge. Did a big happy dance when they left our house!
We replaced all with highly rated Kenmores.
Yeah! Congrates, you just went "green" and didn't know it. I never hired a dishwasher. They take up too much room. I can use that space for more storage. My sister has 2, but decided to use the mobile one.....Her hubby! As for the mop...We are still friends, but I have the worst time finding the perfect mop and recently a big enough bucket for a mop. All the buckets are being made too small and break when you dip the mop. The mops seem to fall apart after just 1 or 2 uses. Guess I'm going to have to put on my knee pads and fire my mop too. Tried those new ones with the throw away pads....Good for a "lick and a promise," but not like a real mop. I do have to admit the new ones are good for drying up spills. Just attach a paper towel to it and it works great. (I like to double the paper towel.)
There is nothing better than "doing it yourself". Machines have made us fat and complacent for sure.
I fired my can opener. I really don't like my veggies so I figured that if I'm not going to like eating something I might as well eat it the most healthy way possible. I only make frozen or fresh veggies now. I grew up on canned veggies so it was an adjustment but I'm used to it by now.
Ms. Dishwasher (the original was invented by a woman, of course, so I consider them female) recently tendered her resignation in our house. I went down on my knees to beg her to stay, promised her the moon and a fabulous benefits package, whatever her little sudsy heart desired, if she would just stay on the job. A few wrench turns later, and we are back in business. Whew.
I'm with you on the mop though. More dirt relocation than removal.
