Help with the Polly Pocket Blues

I KNOW I'm not alone here. My four year old has played with her massive Polly Pocket collection all summer long. Polly is like family at this point. First it was the Easy-Bake Oven, but this loss is depressing ME! Don't own any Barbies who seem like Amazons by comparison. Please share your ideas on filling this void.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Someone could sure make a fortune about now making a collectable, inexpensive replacement for Polly and friends. I'd be first in line.
On the Mattel web site there are growing lists of the Polly sets and toys in question. I've printed up a list and the sorting is going to be a daunting task at this house!

She's talking about the recall of Polly Pockets. It's h*** o* the kiddos, they don't understand. My lil girls are sad too.

A big favorite at our house it the littlest pet shop, still small pieces with fun things to do, but as far as I know they have yet to be recalled! My 2 girls, 4 and 7, both love them and play together often. Good luck, I am sure that this is not a fun time for you! ~A.~

My girls Love and i mean LOVE littlest pet shop, or bobble heads as they call them. They are total animal freaks and don't have must intrest in dolls or barbies or polly pockets, but it might be something that would take the edge off of the loss for your little one.
Do check the matell website because it isn't all the toys. The lead was in the sarge toy from Cars, and something else, the polly pockets were from the magnets being injested and tearing up kids' insides, so like some before said if it doesn't have magnets and isn't on the lead list then it should be okay, at least until the next round of recalls.

My four year old has a huge collection too and plays with them everyday. I went through the list last night and she only had two things on the list - most of hers are not magnetized. You may be surprised how few you have. I'm not sure if I will send it in or not. She doesn't put things in her mouth.

If you take the offenders away, you could buy her a few replacements now - the only things on the shelf will be safe. There were several on clearance at Target last week. Then Mattel will send you a voucher to replace the items you sent in. Good luck!

I may be in the minority here, but unless your 4 year old still puts things in her mouth (or you have a smaller child around the house that does), then I wouldn't worry about taking them away. Polly Pockets are not being recalled because of lead concerns, they are being recalled because some of the magnets have come out and children have swallowed them. Mattel's press release also said that if your PP were bought after January 31, 2007 (you can call to find out if yours are included in the recall if you are unsure - see www.mattel.com and click on "Mattel Announces Expanded Recall Of..."), then those were manufactured using updated safety standards with "enhanced magnet retention systems."

I know it's hard when you feel you have to take away favorite toys, though!
