Help Wilderness Resort Wisconsin Dells
Ok Mamas...I am counting on you for some travel advice. We have decided on the Wilderness Resort in the Dells for a weekday family getaway. It will be my husband and myself and our 3 boys, 7, 4, and 11 months (not walking). What part do we stay in? Glacier Canyon, the kid suites in the regular hotel, wilderness on the lake? There are so many different water parks too!! Which are best for the really little ones to sit and splash? Which are the least crowded? Any food advice? We don't mind driving for dinners but lunch will have to be at the resort. How long did it take you to drive there? (I'm in Plainfield). Thanks so much with any advice you might have!

I am from Plainfield too. I think it took about 3 to 3 1/2 hours to get there. You will have a great time. I have been there three times with my now 22 month old son and he has always had a blast (as his 4 year old cousins).
We always stayed in the glacier canyon as it had a kitchen and living room. (two bedroom suite- the one we stayed had one bedroom master and the other bunks) I like that we could eat breakfast and lunch in our room and went out for dinner. Lunch at the resort for your size family could easily be 40.00, eating in your room would be more cost effective if that is a concern. You could always order in and that would be less expensive then eating on the resort. We loved Moose lodge for their pizza. I would avoid Pizza pub.
There is an outdoor waterpark that is fun right outside glacier canyon, but the other ones you do have to walk about a block (covered indoor bridge or outdoor walkway)or more. My favorite waterpark was the inside wave pool with kids activity center closest to glacier canyon, but I did like the outdoor one near glacier too. We went mid week and the inside ones were much less crowded. If you can request you may not want to be on level 2 of the hotel as that is the main walkway and it is not an issue so much in glacier canyon but the other areas of the resort it can be loud at night.
Have a great time! any other questions feel free to message me.

We have not been to the Dells in a while but I believe the buffet place is still there. It is on the main road and they have a great breakfast buffet and a really good price. My bro has been to Great Wolf Lodge and it has stuff for everyone. I believe all the resorts have areas for the younger kids. For travel, make sure you consider construction since they are doing some right at the border. From Chicago, it take 3 to 3 1/2 hours to get up there.

go to www.radioshoppingshow.com. They have awesome deals for Wis Dells and a lot of attractions: http://www.wbig1280.com/catalog/index.asp Before we head out to WI Dells, I always buy items from the website above and save a whole lot of money. So, depening on when you go, it might not be too late to place an order. I usually get my tickets/coupons within 2 days of ordering them.

we are at Theodore and 59, so driving took us about 3 hours, a tiny bit less. Take Caton Farm to 47 to 88 then over to 39 and up. Really easy drive.
For food when we go to one of those places I bring a cooler full of stuff and our toaster oven. I will bring chicken strips and fries, fruit, pop/juice, lunch meat, bread, etc. When we had younger kids I would stop and buy milk at a gas station when we got there. They have a fridge in the room and a microwave so you can bring anything that is microwaveable and the toaster oven can toast or bake almost anything. I have also made casseroles and brought those and nuked them.
Bring your own plates, cups and silverware and a small amount of dish soap.
It's so nice to be able to just go to your room and eat and not stress about it. And nuking something isn't that bad.
As far as specific to Wilderness Resort, why don't you call the direct line and ask the front desk. We haven't done that resort up there yet, it's the next one for us to try though.
