Wisconsin Dells Indoor Park Recommendations

KALAHARI is our hands down favorite. We too have small children when we went. We like that it is one BIG building. We could walk to the park from our room (no shuttles or outdoor walking), but still felt it was small enough to "find" each other. Don't get me wrong, it's not small, but some of the other resorts have multiple "pools" in different buildings and it's impossible to find each other then. Kalahari is our kids favorite indoor park because they can get familiar with what's there but still feel like there are bigger/scarier rides for them to try "next time". Also, they have a wonderful set of pools, climbers, jumping swings, etc. for the little ones. I was worried having little kids (under 3 including an infant) that it would be too big, busy and deep for them. NO WAY!

The rooms are great. The bathrooms are clean. I can't say enough about it.

If I were you, I'd "splurge" on one of the suites. We rent the three rooms that share a kitchen/living space and it's well worth the experience! That allows kids to nap/sleep while the grown ups can sit on the couch and talk, play games and make food. The typical "hotel room" offers little to no space for "down time"...and we tried it, keeping the tv down, sitting on the edge of the bed and HATED IT.

We had a full sized kitchen, bought/brought all our own food - there's a Super Walmart nearby - and ate in every meal. That in itself made up the difference for eating out every night with our group. The sticker shock during the spring and summer can be tough to swallow, but getting the better room accommodations will MAKE your trip.

Wilderness Resort. Fantastic. Rent something with a kitchen so you can prepare some of your own meals. Best bet - a room in the Glacier Canyon Lodge section. Separate bedroom & living/kitchen areas so that when kids nap or go to bed at night you and your honey can stay up and watch tv. :-)

We've been to the Wilderness and the Kalahari, and our kids preferred the Kalahari, although they are much older than your kids. The Kalahari has one big waterpark whereas the Wilderness, as others have mentioned, has several waterparks throughout the resort. I found it kind of annoying to have to walk or whatever between the different parks and to have to get the kids to agree which one they wanted to go to. The Kalahari was more expensive, but we saved some money by getting a room with a microwave and fridge and eating breakfast and lunch in the room. Have fun whereever you end up.

We have been going every year for about 6 years now and we stay at the Wilderness Resort. It is great! There are many water parks and they are huge! Lots of fun. Also, good food. We just went a couple of weeks ago and decided to try a different resort and stayed at Mt. Olympus. It was OK. We got a really good deal on the hotel, so that made it worth it, but the water park was a lot smaller, only had 1, and the hotel rooms were not carpeted! I thought this was really strange and it made it really loud and hard for our little one to nap. They also had very little to chose from in terms of restaurants/food. This was disappointing. They also had an indoor amusment park, but it wasn't anything great. I would totally recommend the Wilderness, that is where we will always stay. Have fun!

We really liked the Great Wolf Lodge. The Wilderness Resort is huge -- too huge.

We just got back. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. It is quite large and has three different water parks. All three have areas for the younger kids. I think it is one of the less expensive hotels but we found it quite nice. The thing I liked about it was that if you have more than two children in a family all get water park passes. Some places you have to pay for the fifth family member. Be aware though Wilderness adds in a $10/day water fee (or something like that) you can ask when you call for rates. The lifeguards are good. They claim you can't bring outside food into the water parks but it is not supervised so we brought in our own food and snacks and saved a lot of money. Have fun

Kalahari, Kalahari, Kalahari!!!!

Our kids were young when we went too. The one time, our youngest was only a month old! We've had a great time every time! I think we've been there 4 times total. We've been in a regular room, suite, and in the "condo" 3 bedroom/kitchen suite. Go online and look for what specials they are running. You will not be disappointed.

Even in the waterpark they had areas where little ones have fun! They have "doorway jumpers' type things hanging in the water even for the youngest! I think our daughter was even 2 1/2 the one time and liked it. They are supposed to have like the largest waterpark in the US. PLUS they've added a huge amusement park complete with mini gold and everything since we've been there last!

Bring some of your own food and you can save a ton of money. You will not need to leave to find entertainment! They have EVERYTHING! Check in the lobby, they even have different events planned through the days. The last time we were there, we were in the craft room making necklaces (FOR FREE!) and the electricity went out. They GAVE all the kids an animal flashlight and they got to KEEP It!

The service is great. The facilities are top notch. Everything is clean. YOU WOULD LOVE IT>

AVOID: Chula Vista. We went there ONE time. The waterpark was SMALL! They had an underground tunnel to lead from the hotel over to the waterpark. The worst part. THE WATER WAS FREEZING AT THE WATERPARK!

We are actually going to Wisconsin Dells in a week!! We go every year and always stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. It's awesome there. They have so many different indoor waterparks so there's something for all ages. They also have a bedtime storytime in the main area. Plus, it's right beside the outlet mall. ;) That way us moms can sneak away for some shopping. lol We love it there and our 2 year old does too. I definitely recommend Great Wolf Lodge.

We went last weekend to Wilderness Resort and had a really good time with our baby and 3 year old. We stayed at Glacier Canyon within the resort and the room was nice. Everything is connected by skyways. There are shuttles, too. The resort has 4 indoor water parks and an indoor playground. One waterpark is dedicated to young children. Unfortunately, it's the only water park at the resort not connected by the skyways. We took the shuttle but should have just driven our car. Our only complaint is that the walls are paper thin and there was a lot of noise in the hallways when we were trying to get the kids to bed.
