Gluten Free Bakery in San Jose, CA

In September my daughter and I are going up to visit my mother and grandmother in San Jose for our birthdays. My daughter does not and I cannot eat gluten, but my mom wants us to be able to have some cake. So can anyone recommend a bakery in the San Jose area where we could get a gluten free cake or cupcakes.

My mom and grandma live near Valley Fair/Winchester Mystery House, so something within a reasonalble distance would be nice. I don't know what time I will get there, I have a 5 hour drive and I don't want to send mom (76) too far. I figure I can give the suggestions and she can decide how far she wants to go.

Thank you in advance.

What can I do next?

I'm a gluten free baker here in Rocklin and can do cupcakes you could pick up and bring with you. Or if you are too far make custom design sugar cookies which are to die for. I can ship those, take a look at my website www.anamama.com to see if there's anything you like. If you are going to go do trader joes or whole foods I would suggest making it yourself, the whole foods cupcakes that are premade stink.

Cake Spree, Owner/Baker Renee Erez located on Potrero off Leigh Ave., San Jose (between Curtner and Camden Aves.) ###-###-####
Renee is in a women's group with me and has provided gluten free cakes or cup cakes for some of our special celebrations. and they look and taste fabulous.

Sweet Celebrations, Owner/Baker Laurie Clarke located in Morgan Hill
###-###-####
Laurie provided a gluten free cake for me recently (Renee was out of town).
The cake was gorgeous and none of the guests could taste the difference.

Renee's is closest to where your Mom lives, about 20 minutes or so each way.

Both gals have websites and are on Facebook...just type in their names or the names of their bakeries.

Hi,

My name is R. E. and I bake gluten-free cakes. I have an excellent chocolate GF cake recipe and would love to bake for you. I could also deliver it to your mother's house, if that would work for you.

Please take a few minutes to look at my website: www.cakespree.com

I'm looking forward to hearing from you,
Best,
R.

There is a Kara's Cupcakes at Santana Row which is across the street from the Winchester Mystery House. They have a selection of gluten free cupcakes and they are delicious.

Enjoy your visit!

May I recommend a gluten free bakery that is not in the area but ships? Treehouse Bakery is based in Phoenix, AZ and makes delicious gluten free and vegan baked goods. Everything ships fresh and yummy and custom orders are totally welcome.

can you go to Trader Joe's and get a gluten-free cupcake mix and perhaps some sort of frosting/topping? Trader Joe's has any and all things Gluten-Free, from what I have noticed. Granted, I'm from Texas and only go to California to visit family. Trader Joes has more gluten-free items than our huge grocery stores in Texas do.

Mariposa Bakery only does gluten free items. Though they don't have a store in the south bay, they do sell items at the Saturday Los Altos Rancho farmer's market and the Sunday California Ave. market in Palo Alto. I've tasted their items and they're fabulous! I would recommend emailing them and having them hold what you want for you, so there would be no chance of them being sold out.

There is a Whole Foods store that may be close by: I know they sell a lot of gluten free items; but call and see what bakery items they have.
