I found a website that had several ones, here are 2 of them.

Soak a tampon with tea tree oil. You can push it up past the plastic aplicator a bit and then push it back down. Insert it and change as often as if you were on your period.

Plain yogurt is a really good one too. Use a glove (latex, if you are not allergic, or rubber) and fill the fingers part of it with plain yogurt. Cut the fingers with enough space left at the open end to tie it. Put them in the freezer to freeze them in shape. When you need it just unwrap from the "finger casing" and insert the "yogurt-scicle" in your vagina.
Eating yogurt regularly helps keep that in check, it's also good for your digestive system :)

For me it usually takes care of it in a couple of days. Hope it works :)

Two things that really work are yogurt and cranberry, either juice or pills. That will prevent them. The best thing for a cure, it actually cured my daughters thrush, was called Jarro-dophillus. It contains like 6 of the live bateria that are found in yogurt and it is concentrated. My daughter had thrush for two months and went through 3 types of medicine from the docs and nothing worked until this. A friend recommended it and the thrush was gone within a week. It is amazing, a little pricey but so worth it. You can get it a health food stores like Henry's. Good luck.

go to the library or health store , lots of books on this.
more likely you will need to change your eating habits.
you could be feeding the yeast , ex: stay away from white bread , anything that furmintes, like cheese is no good, wine, and certain fruits, white rise, no good. this is just a few....oh and sugar not good.

I use this product. It's like a super-yogurt. They're expensive ($5 each at Whole Foods for a tiny bottle), but you don't have to take them that often. If you drink them a couple of times a month, they will help balance out your internal flora. I generally just pick one up when I have been eating too many sugary foods, breads, alcohol or have had lots of sex. I used to get chronic yeast infections and have learned how to monitor my diet to avoid them. Also, I have completely given up wearing underwear. If you are experiencing a full blown yeast outbreak now, then you can get a prescription for Diflucan from your doctor. That stuff works fast -- but afterwards, it's a maintenance program.

I also had good luck with this product (yeast-gard suppositories):

http://www.mothernature.com/shop/detail.cfm?sku=60462&amp...

But the Biokplus is the best long-term solution.

Best of luck!

You've actually gotten a lot of good advise. I know from personal experience that the garlic clove works. Chose a big clove and be sure to score it. You can run some embroidery thread through the meaty part of it to make a string to pull it out. Colloidal silver is good, acidophilus is a great supplement to take. Eating yogurt is helpful, but unless it is plain and organic, it won't do the job. Limiting sugar is key.

Eat yogurt daily, preferably yogurt that doesn't have added sugar or sweeteners. Yogurt has acidophilus which inhibits the growth of yeast.

My doctor recommends this every time I have a yeast infection, as well as the OTC treatments while they are occurring. Eating yogurt everyday seems to prevent future recurrences.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I take garlic pills, 3 of them 3 times a day with food. Usually this gets rid of the infection within 3 days or so & take them for a couple days after the last signs after the infection goes away. I rarely get yeast infections, so I don't know if it builds a tolerance to it or not. Also, watch how much sweets you eat while you have the infection. Good luck!

Hi N.,

You may need to give up all sugar. Yeast loves sweet urine. Also, you may have to give up yeast, like bread.

Did your doctor test your blood for to much glucose. You may be heading for Diabetis if you have chronic vaginitis.

Sorry to make you worry but you need to know now so you can avoid getting it or at least avoid the needles if you get it under control now.

My daughter used to have frequent yeast infections. I cut out juice & anything else that contains high fructose corn syrup & it keeps her free from yeast overgrowth. Also yogurt helps.

If this persists & your doctor continues to put you off, see another doctor, as this can also be an indicator of other medical conditions.

Good luck.

Lots of people have mentioned yogurt with "live cultures" (both eating and inserting) as well as taking acidopholis (sp?) pills. Also recommended was cutting out sugar, white bread, etc., which can add to the problem. This is really good advice.

You might also try changing the BCP you're on, or changing to another method. Definately talk to your health professional, because I think there is also a 1-time pill you can take to clean out the yeast.

But I really recommend getting a cookbook that deals with "candida" -- the yeast that's the problem. It will help you change your diet to avoid the things that cause a flare up.

Good luck!

Hello N.,
Go to the Vitamin shop and get acidophilus pills.(you may be able to get them at any natural store) They come in a "pearl" form (that's what they call it, pearls)
Yogurt has very little acidophilus in it and will not cure the yeast infection. Forget putting yogurt in your privates, and all of the other rediculous advise you have gotten. My mother has done a ton of research because she has candita, which is a an inbalance of 'Good" yeast in your body. She would alway have an "itch" until she started taking the acidophilus pills. Please believe me....this works.
I will take these pills if I go on an antibiotic, and I also give it to my baby girl when she was on an antibiotic.
Good luck to you!

Of course you should be eating good yoghurt with active probiotic cultures everyday-especially if you take antibiotics or the pill. You can also take plain yogurt and use it as a suppository to relieve the itching. That's right! Crazy but true.
I read on a natural childbirth board (haven't tried it yet) that you can insert a slightly crushed garlic clove to get rid of yeast infections.

Good luck! I hope you get some relief.

Yogurt is the most natural cure for a yeast infection. Check the label for acidophillus. Not all yogurts have it. It one or two a day and it should clear it right up. If you don't like yogurt then look for acidophillus in pill form where vitamins are sold.

HI N.!

When I was about 18 all the way to about 20, I also suffered from recurring yeast infections.
It was a vicious cycle, and most likely it was helped on by my birth control pills! If possible, I would change birth control type...cause quite honestly, just having the yeast infection is birth control by it self - if you know what I mean!
Anyhow - a few things besides that I can remember from this was that my boyfriend needed to be treated as well.
My OBGYN said that even though I felt better - the yeast still might be dormant on him, and then it was reintroduced every time we started having sex again. So look into that - it was some kind of cream if I remember correctly. (For him that is)
Further more - I was treated several times with GENTIAN VIOLET - and it gives instant relief.
You can google it or read up on it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentian_violet
(scroll down and see link for "Gentian violet as a treatment for vaginal yeast infections " if you want to read on)

It needs to be in a liquid form, it will most likely be a powder form, that you mix with water. The way I was treated was that the OB had like a giant Qtip dipped into this, and then it was inserted for like a minute or so.
You should ofcourse do your own research - but I can imagine washing yourself with this mixture should be helpful as well.
Last but not least - all youghurt advice (insertion wise) also really helpful IF YOU USE THE RIGHT YOUGHURT. Has to be natural, otherwise you'll be asking for more trouble.
Good luck - I know this is HELL to deal with!
Oh, and when I stopped using the birthcontrol pills - I never experienced anything like it again, and it has been about 18 years.

Typically yeast forms when good bacteria is compromised by multiple things such as antibiotics, eating habits and/or lifestyle. Yeast flourishes with sugar, since that is what yeast feeds on. My best friend always had trouble with yeast infections and she found acidophilus capsules to work wonders as well as eating yogurts containing active yeast cultures. The yogurt alone won't do it if you already have a yeast infection but eaten regularly it will reduce the chance. Another option is probiotics, they put the good bacteria back into your system in order to fight off the yeast. If you really research yeast it's amazing how many places in the body can have yeast growth so it's certainly something to treat from within. Thrush is yeast in the mouth and you can get in within your body causing excessive itching in your ears, etc. Treat from within naturally with acidophilus or probiotics. Best wishes.

when i was pregnant with my daughter i would get yeast infections almost every other week it seemed like. I just used Monistat-1 and it worked great. My dr. recommended that i buy monistat-7 and use one insert a week to keep the yeast levels down and that helped ALOT also.
There are all forms of yeast! some NEED to be treated with an oral antibiotic. I would get a second opinion if that was me.
I also bought lavender essential oil and eucalyptus oil and put a drop of each in my underwear each day and that actually made it go away. The lavender heals and the eucalyptus soothes. Be careful on the euc. oil if you put too much it will burn. But try that! you can get that at henry's or mother's market or something like those.
You can also try collidal silver. Its a natural anti-biotic and you can use it topically or internally. Just put some in a spray bottle and spray it on the infected area or "itchy" area . Do that several times a day for about a week or more. You should start to feel it working after 3-4 days.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Avoid sugar & dairy...but especially sugar (ANY & ALL KINDS). Yogurt, even though it's dairy, is GOOD for yeast. Shower instead of bathe in a bath. Go to a health food store and purchase Acidophlus (that has to be refrigerated)and take it as directed on the bottle. All of these things together will make a drastic difference, IF it is, in fact, yeast. Women sometimes have a bacterial infection that often is mistaken for yeast. I have battled with this my entire life, and these are the things I do to help. In one of the other responses I read someone telling you to drink cranberry juice..this will make it WORSE since there is so much sugar in cranberry juice, and cranberry pills help urinary tract infections instead of yeast infections. Also, avoid wearing tight fitting jeans. And wear cotton underwear. I swear all of this will help.

I used Monistat for the infection and took a homeopathic remedy called AZO Yeast with the Monistat and then one pill a day since as a preventative. 1) Plain Yogurt tampon - Take a plastic tampon applicator, minus the actual cotton tampon, and fill with plain, unflavored yogurt. Put it in the freezer. Once it's frozen, using the plunger, insert the yogurtsicle like a regular tampon. Make sure to wear a maxi pad though, as the melting yogurt will make a mess. But the bacteria in the yogurt brings your pH level back to normal and cools the burning and itching usually associated.

OR

2) Wrap a clove of garlic in a thin sock-like piece of cheesecloth. Insert it into your vagina at night with the cheesecloth still hanging out so you can easily remove it in the morning. This should also help.

I've used both of these methods (and recommend the yogurt) and both have done wonders, clearning things up in 24 hours.
