Preventing Yeast Infection
Hi moms! I have been on Biaxin for 2days now. I have bronchitis and a sinus infection. Every time I get an antibiotic, I get a yeast infection. Any suggestions out there on how to prevent it this time around? Thanks to all!!

Acidophillus! Inexpensive...Walgreens has it. Ask the pharmacist to help you. It has to be refrigerated. Works great.

Take probiotics and while you are taking the antibiotics you can ask for a prescription for an antifungal.

I would suggest getting AZO- there's many different kinds but it would be best to start it now to prevent the yeast infection all together or at least it will help make it more mild. I believe the AZO products are natural.

Eat yogurt and get probiotics. Probiotics are a supplement that you can take all the time because they will aid in digestion and help get rid of any other symptoms that you may get on a regular/semi-regular basis (i.e. bloating, diarrhea, etc..)
I hope you feel better soon - are you using a neti-pot for your sinus infection, or at least a home made one? It is helpful and will move things along quicker.
Good luck.

Talk to your Dr. or pharmacist - there are other antibiotics out there where you don't get a yeast infection while taking the antibiotic

Yep...Have the same problem you do when I take antibiotics....As all the posts said. Take a probiotic. You'll want to take a good one...Yes double up on the dose too during and for at least a week after you complete the antibiotics as they stay in your system for a few days after your done with your treatment. Eat yogurt daily with those active cultures. A good probiotic to try is Superdopholus from WellnessResources.com . A shacklee.com product called Optiflora or one by Metagenics (order Nutritional Concepts.com) called Ultra Flora Plus. You can order any of these online. I believe in all three...as I have not had a problem once taking these. Best Wishes.
