Do You Worry to Much?

Do you ever worry about getting cancer?
When you get aches or pains do you ever think that it could be serious and that what if you die?
Do you ever worry about passing away and leaving your children motherless?

I worry about this kind of stuff ALL THE TIME. I know that it is unhealthy and not good at all. BUT I don't know how to control it.
All I want to do is just live a fun and healthly life with my family but I truly do worry about my health.

I have talked to Dr.'s before and they just blow it off as me being a worry wart.

I am wondering if I am alone or if there are other mama's that go through something like this.

Thank you for listening to me.

Thank you for your thoughts on this.

What can I do next?

There's no point in worrying about things you can change - because you can change them.
There's no point in worrying about things you can't change - because you can't change them.
If the worry/anxiety is becoming a feedback loop it's becoming it's own problem.
It's probably time you speak with a doctor about anxiety/depression because it can become a biochemical thing that only some medication can help you get out of.

This sounds pretty scary and compulsive for you. I'm sorry you're going through this. I would find a good psychotherapist and see what they say. There's a great book called something like 'Stop Obsessing!'... I think I found it on amazon.com... it was recommended to me by MY therapist for my OCD (but as you'll read, it will help your way of thinking as well)... It's very useful. It's a workbook. Just use what applies to your situation :)

I am a worrywart by nature. My husband knows it, and I'm glad I married him, because he never worries about ANYTHING, so he balances me out. Part of my worries stem from trust issues. I don't trust anyone, so I always think something is going to go wrong. Could you be having a deeper issue that's manifesting itself with your worries? Or maybe you had a childhood experience where someone close to you died or left you? Sorry to sound like a psychologist (although it is my trade)...but there are some things to think about. If I ever worry about "what ifs" I try to go do something that moment to distract myself. Whether it's doing some dishes, running an errand, or flipping on the tv. Sometimes it helps to just say your fear out loud, and you might realize how silly it is to worry about it now. It's all easier said than done, but in reality, whatever happens happens, and there's no reason to worry about it until it DOES happen. If you do think your worrying is excessive, and it takes up most of your day, I would suggest finding another doctor that would pay more attention to you. Anxiety is a real thing, and it can be controlled through behavior, medication, or both. Good luck :)

i think we all go there sometimes, but it's really an issue if you dwell in it. if you worry about all aches and pains, it does make sense that your doctors are getting the 'cry wolf' syndrome.
there's some sort of underlying fear going on here, that probably needs to get delved into so that you can put 'life terrors' in their appropriate place.

Each time you realize this is happening, please take a walk. You will be amazed at the difference it makes in your life! If walking is not an option, then hop on the treadmill, stairmaster, etc....anything to get yourself going.

I wish you Peace.

I didn't worry about myself until I got cancer. I tend to worry too much about something happening to my children.
I tried to tell doctors for years there was something wrong and they blew me off. There are other ways to be proactive in your health rather than just going to the doctor. Eat properly, get daily exercise, take the right supplements and work on your spiritual life. If I hadn't been doing those things, I would be dead.

No, I don't. I try to live my life rather than be consumed with something that MIGHT happen or any ache or pain I have.

If your Drs are blowing you off - you need to find a new doctor...without being mean - maybe a mental health specialist to see how you can compartmentalize the feelings you are having and be able to learn how to set them aside - put them in a drawer or a closet in your head and be able to LIVE your LIFE instead of living in constant fear/worry!!

GOOD LUCK!!

If this is something that you can't stop running over and over again in your head and your truly having difficulty enjoying time with your family because of those thoughts then you should seek counceling. There are illnesses/ chemical imbalances that you can draw a line to those behaviors/ thoughts. I would say that most Mommas have fears/ worries here and there but I wouldn't say that normally it effects spending time with family or enjoying the time with them. Try to train yourself to be in the moment, force yourself if you have to. Push those thoughts out and concentrate on something you child is doing. If you feel the thought creep in while your in your moment, tell yourself NO I am enjoying this instead. You've trained yourself to think, think, think about those bad thoughts, try doing it with the good! :)

i don't worry about those things specifically, but since i've had my son i get these awful images in my head, morbid violent ones, and it's not something i do consciously - i will see him playing in the yard and envision the ball rolling into the street, him running after it, and getting hit by a car. in vivid detail. it's awful, and quite disturbing. i think it's a mom thing. i have also developed an irraitonal fear of heights. never had a problem with them before. i would get a little nervous thrill, but nothing like this - the last time the carnival was in town we had SUCH a blast - until we went on the ferris wheel as a family - i literally almost had a panic attack. every time my son moved an inch i felt the impulse to grab ahold of him and hold him down so he wouldn't move. i finally had to send him to the other side to sit with his dad. my breath started coming in gasps, my head was spinning...it was NOT good. i knew logically my son was safe...but something in my head just wasn't accepting it.

i think it's all these things we always knew "could" happen...but once you're a mom, they become SO absolutely terrifying that your brain can't help going there. sadistic!

To help from worrying so much, you need to be prepared. Have life insurance in place. My husband sells Aflac's cancer plans, I can't tell you how many people get cancer and are not prepared! He litterally gets a call every single week! Having a supplimental plan like Aflac helps put your mind at ease that if something happened, at least you wouldn't have to worry about the financial side of it. For example, chemo is usually weekly and Aflac pays you $900 for EACH treatment you get! That is a check to YOU to do with as YOU wish!! So you can't keep worrying about the "what if"...but you need to do everything you can to have something to help in case something does happen. I hope this helps! :o)

It sounds like you have anxiety..as do I. Your hormones get so altered after you have kids. My issues have not been the same..but I would worry about terrible things...like my children dying...and that is just terrible! I understand also..you don't want to think those things, but they just pop up. Anxiety pops up from time to time for me...and the best cure is therapy. It really can take only a few sessions..but it is SO helpful to talk it out with a professional...and see where it is coming from. Did one of your parents leave you as a child, etc. It will help you see where this is stemming from..and then you can work on the real issue, and these disruptive thoughts will fade. Peace to you!

I remember seeing this question a couple days ago and I didn't respond then I saw your question today about your husband and the new hire. Now I am putting the two together and realizing they are from the same person and it sounds like you have some anxiety problems. I feel for you. It is not healthy to worry about all these things that you have absolutely no control over and it will make you go crazy "trying" to control these things.

I really think you need to talk to someone about this. Don't let a Dr. shrug you off as a worry wart.

You WILL end up causing yourself health issues with the stress on your body with all the worry and anxiety.

Talk to a Dr., read some books about anxiety, get some help.
Exercise, sleep and healthy eating helps our bodies deal with stress, getting out in the sun for abit helps also. Good luck my dear..stop the worrying and start enjoying life!!
