Comfortable Shoes

I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for shoes. I have to stand at work all day and dress up. I usually buy Born shoes. They are expensive, but they last a long time and are comfortable. My husband thinks I should buy nurse shoes...does anyone know if they are comfortable?

What can I do next?

Sometimes, investing in insoles is better than shoes. (You have more options.) I'm on my feet all day and I work with kids so I wear good athletic shoes with regular athletic insoles. I've wanted to try that infomercial insole (WalkFit Orthotics) and the reviews seem mixed.

Hi C.,
I have a pair of Clark shoes and love them. They are comfortable and stylish. I am a teacher and on my feet a lot too. You can get them for less than $100 at Boston Store Younkers, Elder Bierman, ect. They go on sale often and the stores always have coupons in the newspaper for an additional 20-25% off.
Good luck!

Dansko shoes are very comfortable, they also are expensive but the last a long time. I think that you can now get them in an array of colors, most of them are a clog version.

Before I read the last sentence from your huband- I was thinking "nurse clogs"- they are meant to be comfortable and ease the strain of standing all day.

I don't know what your issue is, but I have flat feet (unsupported arches) and my feet constantly hurt too. I have found great success with a brand called Dankso. That is about the only brand I will wear anymore.

They make a clog that a lot of nurses wear, but also other styles that are suitable for work. They aren't cheap (good shoes aren't) but I find I wear mine every day so they are worth the investment. Good luck! Tired feet make your whole body tired.

C. - most shoes today have little to no arch support. I had arch supports made specifically for my feet at my chiropractor's office. They take molds of your feet, along with a few other measurements including weight, and then a support is produced. I had these made for my daughter too to help with some knee problems she was having.

Have you tried Dansko shoes yet? They are pretty expensive ($120 on average) but will last forever! They have some really cute styles and are a bit more dressy than Born or Privos. I agree on Privos though..they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever worn!!!

I'm an RN and I wear Dansko--also worn by chefs--and I love them. they come in all different styles. check out their website. I have purchased shoes from their "outlet" as well. yeah, they're $100 or so but worth it.
