I am debating on moving to either Flower Mound or Lantana. I am familiar with Flower Mound, but not Lantana. Are the schools good? Good neighborhood in general? Thanks.

What can I do next?

My in-laws resided there and found it to be a challenge. The access regarding roads were inadequate, the residents were extremely gossip-oriented (see the blog), & there are far too many homes for sale driving house values down.

Both are great areas. Lantana is a lot newer. Lantana's high school is Guyer, in the Denton district. It just became a 5A school. There are 2 elementary schools in Lantana. Both are wonderful. Flower Mound has a number of elementary schools and middle schools. There are 2 high schools- Marcus and Flower Mound. I really like living in Flower Mound.

If you can afford Lantana it is upscale to Flower Mound. Nice area. They maintain the front yards for you and the schools are excellant. Lots of money there. They have a restraurant and I think some sort of live theater. Flower Mound is old and Lantana is new. Double Oak is nice too where I lived. Tons of pilots live in these areas because it is so close to DFW. You have community pools in Lantana too. Not in Double Oak. Good Luck. Nice area. My friend lived in Lantana for a short while and I lived in Double Oak for 5 yrs. G. W

I live in Lantana and love it. I am a stay at home mom of a first grader and 2yr old. I love it here. My house is in the Laurel sub. All the areas are very nice, priced from $175 to some where in the millions. There r plenty of activities and recreation in the area. Shopping within 10 min. I rarely have to drive past 407 and 2499. There r two elem and one middle in the nbhd and two pre-schools. We also have a moms club and a ladies league. If u have questions let me know.

I'm not directly familiar with Lantana, but here's a great resource:
http://www.crosstimbersgazette.com/
One of the top tabs is "Forums" - go there and visit the "Lantana" forum to see what residents are talking about. Might help.

Also, whether you move to FM or Lantana, you've got to check out www.familyeguide.com - a great site of family-friendly activities local to this area.

Getting in and out of Lantana is a PAIN!! Especially around Christmas (because of the shops), or anytime there is a wreck on 35, and people are going the back way to Denton. I avoid going that way at all costs, honestly.
