15 Months Old and 2 Teeth!
My daughter is alomost 15 months old and still has only her 2 bottom teeth. Has anyone else experienced it? Ped. says it's nothing to worry about, but I'm worrying, of course. Is it worth it to take her to a ped. dentist? She eats all regular food, has no problem chewing-I'm just concerned that the teeth aren't going to pop up.

They say the the longer the teeth stay in the gums the stronger they will be. So, don't worry. My mom and cousin didn't have any teeth until they were 2 and they were both eating apples without them. My mom is now in her 60's and still has all her own teeth without any problems. I would say, that there is truely nothing to worry about. There are more important things that will come along then this.

S.,
My youngest daughter did the same thing. She's 4 now and has lots of beautiful teeth. From what my dentist said, she'll probably be on the late side losing her baby teeth and getting permanent ones too. I wouldn't worry. Next time you go to the dentist, ask. S/He may be able to feel the gums and tell if there are teeth there.

Hi S.-
I wouldn't worry about this so much. My cousins' son didn't get any teeth until he was 1 year old and he then he got them pretty much all at once. Her teeth will come in when they're ready. Maybe give it a couple more months and see if there is even a start to other teeth coming in. If not, maybe consult a pediatric dentist to discuss and put you at ease about it (or you could do that now if you feel you want to). It is said that the later babies get their teeth, the stronger they will be. Good luck.

My kid brother got his first tooth at 14 months. He is 17 now, with a beautiful set of teeth and a modeling career. She'll be just fine.

Hi S.,
I just wanted to tell you that my son was a late bloomer when it came to his teeth. He was able to chew his food very well, I remember how amazed I was at how well he was chewing chicken and what not!! All children are different and they do those things in their own time. My advice to you would be not to worry to much about it because it does happen to other children that age!! Is she chewing on things a lot? I think as long as she is showing signs of teething there is nothing to worry about! I wouldn't worry about a Ped. Dentist, its a waist of money! Give her time they will come!! I hope I was of some help to you!!! thanks

I am the mother of four. My first 3 had teeth by 6 months. My last, which is 19 months, didn't get his first tooth until 2 weeks after his first birthday. No more followed until 16 months. He now has 10 teeth.eventually they will come. After the first 2 he got 4 at a time. On the bottom he still only has the front 2 and 2 molars.

My husband is a pediatric dentist in Fairfield, CT and I asked him your question. Having two teeth at 15 months of age is well within normal limits. He says the timing of tooth eruption is extremely unpredictable. He also says there is nothing to worry about at all for your daughter. Just wait and the teeth will come. Good Luck!!
