My 1-Yr Old Only Has 2 Teeth So Far

my 1-yr old daughter got her 2 bottom teeth around 9 months, but nothing more ever since, actually she will be 13 months next week. A friend thinks she may need some calcium supplement. But when I asked the pediatrician, I was told not to worry. Just wondering if I could get some advice /suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

My understanding is that all babies are different and they develop at their own pace. I don't think you should worry.

C.,

The same thing happened to my son. He is 12 almost 13 months in a week and has only had 2 bottom teeth since he was 8 months. I asked my pediatrician and she too said not to worry. Unless you are going to a pediatrician in Newport Beach I doubt we have the same doctor and if two doctors say the same thing then I guess it really is not something not to worry about. As a matter of fact I almost wanted to take him to the dentist but I guess I will give it time.

Kids all get teeth at different ages, no worry, everyone is different. I didn't get more than 2 teeth till around 18m, my son had 8 teeth at 13m. They'll get them eventually. Just remember you don't need to hold back on foods, they're gums are strong and sharp too.

Dear C.,
Greetings!!!

Don't laugh!!! But, my dazzling son, Dylan Orion, started teething when he was about 13 weeks old. We were so convinced that his teeth were coming in! We even told him that they were as he drooled away! Believe it or not, he just celebrated his 9 month old birthday on Sunday (29 June), and on Monday (30 June) his first tooth broke through his gums! AMAZING! What I've truly learned from this experience is that every baby is different, and your daughter's teeth will come through when they are ready to come through. Just like Dylan's. : ))) Enjoy your precious sweetie and her gorgeous smile!

LOL,
L. (MAMA to 40 week old Dylan Orion).

No don't worry. My oldest son walked at 10 1/2 months and had not teeth at that time (we called him our toothless wonder:)
His first tooth cam in about 13 months. Children who get teeth later usually get the second teeth later and therefore are better able to care for them and so have fewer cavities. Actually of my three children (all late teethers) only one has a filling. Avoid sodas, candies, cookies, etc except as treats and them make sure they brush after having them.

I see you have lots of responses, I don't have time to read them so sorry if this is redundant. I didn't have a tooth until I was 2, and I have the strongest enamel and no cavities! My daughter only had two teeth at 13 months also and then got two more at 15 months and her teeth are beautiful also, so I don't think you have any worries. If anything it seems to be better.

You're lucky, try breastfeeding a 1 year old with 5 teeth..... ouch! No worries, every kid is so different. Mine didn't even start crawling until 11 months and isn't even close to walking yet. Stop comparing, it'll drive you crazy! Listen to your pediatrician. Best

hi C., Baby's cut teeth at different ages, my first baby cut teeth reallky early where my other two cut teeth later. J.

My daughter got her first tooth at at 12 months. I was concerned until my pediatrician told me her child didn't get her first tooth until 12 months. Some kids just get teeth later than others. Many dentists now recommend getting the first check-up at 1 year, so maybe you could bring your daughter in and get another opinion, just to be sure.

My little one was the same, she's two now and has all her teeth. Your daughter is fine, don't worry.
