My son turned 10 months on the 26th of October. And he has no teeth nor any sign of them coming! :( I have 3 other children of which got teeth at a decent age at least what I thought was normal 6 months! Have any of you moms experience this? Besides not having teeth he eats awesome! Sometimes better than my other 3! ;) Thanks in advance! !!!

What can I do next?

I didn't have a tooth in my head until 13 months, according to my mother. They all came in pretty quickly once they started, and were pretty typical after that.

Don't know if it's connected, but my adult teeth were very slow coming in, too. I finally got my 12 year molars when I was 16.

My son was 11 months old when he (finally) got his first tooth. My daughter was 5 months old. The range for "normal" is astonishingly wide.

My niece's teeth didn't start coming in until she was 13 months, and they didn't follow the "normal" pattern (two front top, two front bottom, etc.) they just popped up randomly!

My first child got her first tooth at 13 months, and my second child got hers at 14 months. My first child, now almost 8, has only lost three teeth compared to her gap-toothed friends.

My dentist (and plenty of others) have assured me that the later you get (and lose) teeth, the healthier they are likely to be. This runs on my husbands side of the family, and he has beautiful teeth and not a SINGLE cavity.

My cousin's daughter was toothless til 11 months and my nephew was toothless to about a year old. My DD was drooling at 3 months and had two teeth at 6. I guess every kid is different. Neither of the kids I mentioned are toothless now, so he'll catch up, possibly all at once.

My youngest popped her first tooth on her first birthday. Believe it or not, the later the teeth arrive the stronger they are, so this is a good sign. Be patient and if he doesn't have one by his 1 yr check-up, ask his pedi then.

My son didn't get his first tooth until he was about 20 months. And we are now wondering if he will loose teeth. He is 10 years old and has only lost about 4 teeth. He still has all the molers.

UMy youngest son didn't get his 1st tooth until 15 mos.. My other 2 boys , were early teethers. He will be 3 in a couple months & still hasn't got his 2 year molars. Like your son , he had no problems eating. I took him to the dentist at 12 mos., because I was freaking out and she did an exam and assured me , he had teeth in there. As long as your sons hair is growing well & skin looks healthy, most likely he has teeth & will just be a late teether. My late teether has the best looking teeth & so far much healthier than my other 2 boys. Some people say the later they teeth , the healthier their teeth. I'm not sure if that's totally true but seems to be for him.

My brothers kids never got their teeth until their first birthday. Mine had a mouthful by 6-8 months. It just depends. It isn't abnormal.

Some get teeth sooner (a very few babies are born with a tooth or two -ouch! when it comes to breast feeding) and some get them later.
When they initially come in later they typically start to fall out later too (will delay visits from the tooth fairy for awhile).

I found this:

"Many parents worry about the timing of the appearance of their children's teeth. While the average time for the appearance of the first teeth is between five and seven months of age, there is a wide normal variation of timing. The teeth might come in as early as one month of age, or they might wait until a child is almost one-and-a-half-years old. Anywhere in this range can be normal."

We actually are having the opposite problem with our daughter, shes only 4 months and is showing signs shes teething and ive noticed latley how hard the front of her bottom gums feel. We were very surprised by this because i did not get my first tooth until i was 1year old and my fiance didnt get his first until he was 11months. I have no siblings but i asked my fiances mother & father about their kids... his brother didnt get a tooth until he was 13months and his little sister was between 9&10 months when she got hers. I always thought that the time babies got teeth had to do with when their parents got them but i guess not. So i dont think that your 10month old not teething is out of the norm.
