Pretty No-Carve Pumpkins for Halloween
One of the best things about having kids (or a niece if you’re like me) is seeing the Holidays through their eyes! And one of the best things about this Holiday (besides the candy) is… PUMPKIN EVERYTHING!
But that doesn’t mean you have to carve those pumpkins, make a huge mess, have knives everywhere and deal with those pumpkins rotting later. Going the No-Carve route eliminates ALL of that. And it’s still just as fun for you—-er… the kids.
So without any further ado, here are my fave No-Carve Pumpkin ideas for this Halloween (in order of ease to create). Less Mess, More Pretty!
Before you start any of these DIY’s, wipe and fully DRY your pumpkin. Then use masking tape to cover the stem.
Lay out newspaper or coverage of some kind, creating a workspace for yourself. And if you’ll be spraying any paint or adhesive, make sure you’re outside or in a well-ventilated area. OK I’m finished with my safety rant. Have fun crafting!
Chalkboard Pumpkins
Chalkboard Spray Paint the body – Let dry – Non-Toxic Chalkboard Marker or chic Scrapbook Stickers to decorate all over – Remove masking tape from the stem

For a similar matte finish in different colors, use Organic Milk Paint and a Milk Paint Brush to paint the body – Let dry and remove masking tape from the stem

Glitter Pumpkins
Glitter Blast Spray Paint the body – Let dry and remove masking tape from the stem

If you’d like an ombre effect, Spray Adhesive around the stem working your way down in uneven lines – Sprinkle Glitter on body immediately, using a heavier hand as you work your way up to the stem – Shake off excess glitter and remove masking tape from the stem

Ombré Pumpkins
Off-White Satin Spray Paint the body – Let dry – Remove masking tape from the stem and using a Foam Brush, paint the stem with Non-Toxic Bronze Acrylic Paint – Metallic Gold Spray Paint top of body to 2/3 down – Keep layering with more coats towards the top, around the stem – Let dry

Decoupage Pumpkins
Photocopy your fave fabric or print (in color) – Measure distance between center of stem to center of pumpkin’s bottom – Cut your photocopies into strips of this length, about 1 inch wide – Using a narrow Foam Brush, paint back of strips with Non-Toxic Mod Podge – Working from base of stem down and smoothing out any air bubbles, cover entire pumpkin with your strips, overlapping slightly as you go – Let dry – Cover entire pumpkin with 2 coats of your Mod Podge – Let dry and remove masking tape from the stem

Decoupage is so forgiving, you can even spray paint your pumpkin first, then decoupage the details!

Gold Leaf Pumpkins
Here is an awesome, inexpensive Starter Kit with everything you need (minus the brushes)!
Using a narrow Foam Brush, apply your Adhesive to the body, wherever you’re planning on applying the Gold Leaf Foil – Let dry 1-2 minutes until glue is tacky – With your hands, apply your Gold Leaf Foil to the body (sheet by sheet) – Using a Bristle Brush, apply your Sealer over the Gold Leaf Foil – Let dry and remove masking tape from the stem
