You're on This Website Almost All Day - What Are Your Kids Doing?

So a lot of you are 'regulars'. What are your kids doing while you're on this site answering everyone's questions?

I am guilty that in the mornings, my son is watching tv eating breakfast while I am reading on MP and eating mine.
Right now my 3.5 yr old son is playing with toys while I am on here. He is 5 feet from me, but sometimes I feel guilty about being on here almost all day! (I prefer to leave the house every day, but he got sick yesterday (contagious?) and I have a low-grade fever. No reason to spend the gas to go anywhere today since we both my be carrying something.

So anyways - what are your kids doing while you're busy on MP?

ADDED: Yes - this is my only adult contact during some days. I love that I have "friends" online. I don't do FB or twitter or anything. So this is my only outlet really. My bookmarks on my internet are weather, Netflix, Hulu, Mamapedia, library, bank, and freebies4mom.com and so I gotta get my Mamapedia fix daily!

What can I do next?

Right now, my son has childcare because we had a conference with his preschool teachers this morning.

I took off from MP this summer because I could see that the more I was on, the more I wasn't parenting my own sweet kid. So, it's like that. If I'm on, he's not awake/around/ or he's at preschool. Works better that way.

This made me laugh because i often feel guilty for getting on here when my kids are awake. I try not to stay more than 15 minutes.
Right now baby is in his exercauser and 3 yr old is playing a learning game on IPAD next to my feet.
I should be doing dishes while they are entertained. : )

Alot of the time I am on via my laptop...

I work at home and I am on the computer all day...I have to do alot of back and forthing with emails and what not, so I have a computer with my just about Always

Thankfully, I can have as many pages open at once...So I go back and forth.

At home, my kids are busy playing. They could care less, what I am doing.

When they want me to join in I walked away.

My pet peeve with myself is when I ask a question.....right before I am leaving and then can not watch for the responses.

Right now my younger two are cuddled up in my bed watching the Tooth Fairy.

I am presently answering this question, but then I will be getting back to drawing. And emails.

I have been in the midst of a really bad artist block...So I have had a lot of free time on my hands.

It is starting to get annoying...But these things do not last long.

When it comes to walking away to do house stuff...Blah. Every two hours I have to get up and get something done around here...So that when my hubby comes home...I at least can show him WORK that I have accomplished towards some of the books....Or the house is clean and I have a little clean laundry to show for the day:)

Roman is either in my lap, right next to me playing, but always in the same room within eye sight. He oohs and aahs over the pictures and ads ;)

I don't feel bad about it because I work from home and I'm on the computer all day anyway!! This is my only adult contact during the day (other than the work emails I'm responding too, but that's not on a personal level)... so this is my sanity saver :)

I'm fascinated by the women who are on here while they are at work.
I'm too busy at work to even check my e-mails, not to mention the fact that we're not allowed to use company equipment for personal reasons. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, I just can't imagine that ever happening for me.
I'm on today because I went to work and was sent home for having a terrible cold.
Otherwise, I am only on very early in the morning or in the evenings.
I found this site when I had a broken leg and was off work.
That was a while ago.
My youngest is now 16 and a junior in high school, so when he's not using the computer for homework, etc, he's doing his own thing while I check the site.
What my kid is doing has no bearing, really. When he's with his dad, my time is my own. When he's here, we each check our e-mails and things but have "our" time together as well.
No offense to anyone whatsoever, but mamapedia is much like a soap opera...you can be away for days, a week, and come back and not much has changed.

Just my opinion. Again, no offense to anyone.

We have multiple computers, many toys, and lots of playmates. I leave several computers up and running in my living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. We have cribs that are used for brief time outs when the toddlers are hitting, climbing, or running. I manage just fine to watch over them and do what I want as well.

When the kids are not on the computer doing preschool stuff, I jump on whatever computer is available. My kids definitely get their diapers changed on time, fed regular, and I manage to see most of their squabbles in order to know who needs disciplined. We even make most of our meals from scratch and keep our house extraordinarily clean. There are 2 of us here as well.

I've always been taken back by how many people feel the need to ask this question of moms and daycare providers? Do some of you type like 15 words per minute or read at a really slow level? I just don't find that it takes more then 30-40 seconds to make a reply, and I definitely don't read all the questions. In fact, I read very few of the questions.

I started back to work in September so my M. time is a lot more limited now.
A lot of times my youngest Alex is either playing, I have a slew of Super Hero Squad figures on the floor to the left of me right now...they look like the bad guys and good guys are having a stand off and right now he is flying around the livingroom with Ironman...other days he is at the kitchen table coloring ( my comp is in the kitchen due to it being an open floor plan and this is pretty much the center of the house) other days he is within eye shot watching netflix, he loves Diego and Sesame Street.
I consider this site, FB and diet Dr.Pepper to be my only true addictions, so I figure I am not doing so bad = ) Me time is good for a mom!

My life changed the day I got a computer in 2001. My 4th child had just been born and I was wallowing in non-adult world. I immediately went to the Mothering website and became a member. Since then, I've joined 5 boards and moderated one. Those friendships and interactions saved my sanity.

My kids are all in school now and I like to read advice columns (kind of a hobby), so this is a great place for me to waste time between loads of laundry. Not that you guys waste my time lol. I probably should be dusting or something.

Our computer sits in the family room, sort of like the "hub" that the TVs of old used to take up, lol. My kids are school aged, and they are cyber schooled this year. They are on their laptops somewhere around, intermittently asking me to enter a password for them to access an online assessment. Or they are outside. Or asleep late at night.
This is one of the things I can pop in and out on throughout the day and still get the laundry done, the school work managed, the lunch made, the house cleaned, etc...
So I am not here all day long.... but in 10 minute increments throughout the day. Still probably more than I should be, though.

*Usually* I pop in throughout the day - a few soft just-mine minutes, or during my kid's nap/after bed time.

This morning I am taking a loooooong break. The kids have eaten and are playing with each other in the living room. I am roasting my brain on M. anonymous...ahem...I mean mamapedia. Right now mine are folding blankets. To them, this is fun (wish *I* felt the same about laundry!)

Six more minutes, and then it's time to get my bum in gear.

My kids have "downtime" every day from 4-5 PM. The only requirement is that they play quietly in their rooms (my 6 yr old is also required to do his homework if he has any). This is my time to check email and regroup a little before starting my 2nd shift (making dinner, paying bills, getting the kids ready for bed, packing lunches, yada yada yada). It's my little sanity saver. :)

The 2 days a week when I'm home with them, I'll check the site also in the morning...I sit at the breakfast table with them and check email and check this site for a few minutes...but then don't check it again usually until they are in bed.

Kiddos are at school..this is my quiet time.

I get on and off the site all day. I just came in from a great run...weather out here is gorgeous. I check some questions...and then move on to taking a shower, running errands and puttering around the house. I don't usually get on for a looong time when the kids are at home...too busy with homework, dinner and playing referee among the brood.

Don't feel guilty if he is playing quietly and entertaining himself. Now...if he is pulling at your pants and crying..well then guilt is well placed. Enjoy a little MP now and then throughout the day interspersed with playing with your son or cuddling up and reading a book or two. Stay home..relax and feel better soon. Oh..and drink tons of water.

Good luck and best wishes!

My kids are older and in school, 15, 12 and 9. Athough I have an office outside of our home that I share with hubby, I can work from home and have done so for the last 2 years or so. So my kids are in school during the day and I'm only on here during the weekdays, no evenings and no weekends, they are saved for family time. So it takes me all day on Mondays to go thru MP and get caught up from Friday afternoon to Monday morning. =)
