Good morning Ladies!
I keep seeing the comercials about Yaz. I need any and all experiences with the drug. I suffer from horrible PMS symtoms, especially mood swings, headache and fatigue. I had perfect skin all through my teen years but now suffer from acne at age 34. How long have you been using it? Side effects, symptoms before and after using Yaz. Would you recommend it? Thanks!!!

I've been on Yaz for about a year. I was put on it by my MD because I used to get pretty bad headaches on the "off" week on the other pills. If I get a headache at all now it's not nearly as bad. Shorter, lighter periods. No side effects to speak of, although except for the headaches I never really had any other side effects with the other pills. I'd recommend it.

Hi D.. My GYN put me on Yaz last year (age 35) after having taken Yasmin (slightly higher dose of the same brand) for several years. I did great on Yasmin - short, uneventful periods. I have done very well on Yaz as well. I can be very grouchy around that time and both of these pills seem to help that - sometimes still want to be a little grouchy but seem to be able to control it better - a little more myself in realizing, 'oh, this is just my hormones. I don't really want to strangle my husband.' HA! I haven't had any side effects with either drug. Periods run light and only for about 2 days which my doctor said was exactly what the drug was supposed to do and was not harmful to my body at all. No headaches or fatigue as side effects and the pill seemed to manage my usual tiredness around this time pretty well. On the skin, I don't know about that. I don't have acne but I've noticed in the last couple of years (I just turned 36) that my skin still has as much oil as when I was a teenager. I don't know if that is a side effect of the pill - like maybe at this age my skin should actually be getting drier - or if my hormones are just backward. I don't know. Anyway, I think either of these are good products and I have recommended them to several of my friends. Best of luck, C.

I was experienceing the same symptoms - mood swings, irritability, headaches. I felt like a hormonal monster!! My dr prescribed YAZ and it has definitely helped. I started YAZ about 3 months ago, the first 2 months my period felt like it lasted 2 weeks but my dr's office said it was body repsonding to the new bcp. I am not so irritable any more and 'more under control'. I would definitely recommend it.

I chose an IUD and I'm THRILLED! No side effects and my periods are getting lighter and lighter. Some spotting but nothing too annoying. Best of all, no pills to take! Talk to your doctor about Minera...I love it! Oh, and if you want to get preg again, just have it taken out and you're good to try immediately! It lasts for 5 years...awesome!

I have issues with birth control I guess since I had kids. I used to take Ortho TriCyclen before kids but being put on it after kids caused me to have almost heartattack type chest pains, headaches, nausea, sickness, etc. especially in the 3rd week. They put me on Yaz and a few others. Yaz caused the exact same issues but a little lessened in the earlier weeks and only really bad side effects two days or so before period. I also tried the Mirena IUD which caused the same effects. I obviously can't handle the hormones. I can't tell you whether your body will handle it or not; but just know that the warning side effects on the side of the package actually happen to people and to beware. If you have any side effects in the first week or two I would not get to the third week of pills before I discussed them with your doctor. The third week is the strongest.

I was on it for a while and it regulated my periods wonderfully but it caused my eczema to break out all over my body after a few months. I don't use hormone treatment anymore of any kind. I regulate my female issues with better diet. I heard that eating chicken and eggs a lot affects many women's menstrual cycles and PMS so I stopped both of those and have seen a miraculous difference. I also eat fresh, barely blanced turnip greens, kale and I eat organic as much as possible. I also practice yoga every day and all these things have improved my PMS issues, etc. wonderfully. Good luck to you!
