My son is 13.5 mo old and has no signs of any teeth coming in. We had bloodwork done last week and I will find out the results today. I think they are looking for a vitamin deficiency. Has anyone had children get their first teeth after age 1 and everything be ok?

What can I do next?

He finally cut his first tooth ! YAY... at 14 months. It's barely through the gums, but it's there.

I have a nephew who's teeth didn't come in. Ay two years they finally had to actually cut his gums to force his teeth to come through. It was not any fun and a few hard days, but he made is through and all is well now. Good Luck!

Hi,
My children and myself have a genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome and that's how I found out about my children being late teethers and their other developmental issues.

BUT I was also told that if anyone in your family was a late teether that it can be hereditary and that it doesnt always mean there is something wrong with your child. HTH :)

My son was late as well. He first tooth appeared around 14-15 months. Then they all came in so quickly and he is now 21 months. They say when children are late teethers, then their teeth will most likely come in all at once, which was the case for mine.

My daughter also started teething very late I believe she was about 10 months or so when her first 4 teeth cut and they were her front teeth and there was a good amount of time between cutting the others. My daughter is now 2 1/2 and she is finally cutting her last two bottom incisors. Every child is different when cutting her teeth and the way they cut them. Some kids cut one at a time, but my poor daughter usually cut three or four at a time, which made teething especally harder on her. Calm down...everything will be ok. Every child is different and do things at their own pace.

Both of my boys were late in teething. My first was about 13 months, and my second was around 15 months. There was pretty much no signs up until then and my poor little boys went through a bad couple of weeks when most of their teeth popped. It was alot of frozen pancakes, frozen washwrags, motrin, and baby oragel. ...as for the other responses, thank goodness this was not as a result of any disorders that I know of with my boys. Just teeth being in no rush to make their appearance. Good luck

Yes! My girlfriend's daughter didn't get her first tooth until she was 18 months old! The rest are coming in now and she's doing fine. Don't worry! =)

Hi B.

My son was 14 months old before he got his first tooth with the rest following quickly thereafter. He is 2 1/2 now with all of his teeth and no dental problems. I worried too until he got that first tooth. Be prepared, he was miserable for weeks getting all his teeth, we used motrin and orajel for some relief as well as cool teethers. Good luck.

Hi B..
I haven't had this problem with my boys, but my girlfriend did with hers. He is 10 now, and no problems. I believe it took him a couple years to get his in. I'm sure it was painful, but some children just don't get them til later, I guess. He also has some that he has not lost yet. Go figure! I hope this eases you a bit! Good luck
