Hello.

We moved into a house and I now need to get some curtains. I've gone to JCPenney in the past, but where do you like to buy curtains/drapes? I don't want to spend anymore than $30/panel. Also, any good rug place be helpful too!

Thanks everyone!

So What Happened?

Hello.

Thanks for the suggestions. Many were good reminders for me.

I decided to delay my purchases until the New Year. Figured I'll buy the few things i want for me now and then spend the Xmas GC money on home stuff. When I buy though I'll likely end at WalMart for some drapes as they have some nice Better Homes and Garden drapes for like $14. Also, iI plan on going to HomeGoods to look at tableclothes. I have some windows needing 90" curtains and those are way $$. A neighbor suggested tableclothes instead that you suspend with hooks. I had never thought of that.

Overstock.com and Bed Bath And Beyond are staples of mine for curtains/drapes.
You can do rugs there, too.

I got a really cute rug at Garden Ridge, a 5x7 for $70, you can see a bit of it here:

The Home Depot one is really pretty, about an 8x10 for less than $200. You can see it here:

If you need just the standard length curtains, Target has some cute ones. I got some at Walmart on sale for $7 a panel. Ebay/Amazon/Overstock also have some pretty good deals on curtains. IKEA has has some really good deals.

idk about rugs. I would invest a little more with those as they get more ware. But I avoid rugs because of the kids and pets. I would be purchasing them several times a year.

I like to find the best deal and quality. Recently I was in search for sheets. The cheapest I found were ten dollars twin sized at family dollar. While they were cheap they were cheap quality too! Best deal was 13 dollars at Walmart.

While on the search I did look at drapes. The dollar stores, Big Lots (z?), Ross Dress for Less. For me Target was too expensive for sheets and curtians. I even looked into the shower curtians for a drape! I am cheap and want the best deal. Waiting for a coupon and sale might get you the quality and price point your seeking. I think certian times of years has best deals. Like christmas and towels. I am sure you could search for more info. Also look on websites for printable coupons.

we go to IKEA or to bed bath and beyond. They've got great drapes, in my opinion, good hardware too. The best is that they've got no sew, iron kits for re-sizing the curtains to fit your windows. Even I can manage that.

Good luck to you and yours,

I recently replaced my drapes and bought them at Penney's again. You may find what you're looking for at a reasonable price now that they have their Fair and Square pricing policy.

We've purchased drapery from Overstock.com and Pottery Barn in the past. Happy with both. Have also purchased Anthropologie drapery (fabulous fun drapery there), but that can be on the pricey side. Ebay is also good for both Pottery Barn and Anthro drapery if you're looking for higher-end at a more reasonable price.

Do you have a World Market near you? I don't love a lot of their stuff but I've found that they have beautiful curtains. They frequently put our coupons so check out their website to peruse their curtain selection and print a coupon.

I get mine at thrift stores or make them from cheap sheets. Can't help you on rugs - I refuse to have them in my house.

JC Penney in the clearence section, just got lucky that they had enough of the panels I wanted, they were originally, $48 or something and I got them for like $15-18 a panel. I also used Next Day Blinds to cover the lower part of a very large bay window and I'm very satisfied with them, hubby did not want to do it because we rent but I have issues with privacy and windows. so we compromised because we have a 3 year lease! Wise investment to me energy-wise!
PS I went to the newly opened Penny's in Potomac Mills...

Hi, Michelle:

Shop at the thrift stores. They have panels that are cheap and some are nicer than others. Give it a go!
Good luck.
