When to Drop the Before Bed Liquid Feeding

I am glad i found this because i was thinking the same thing. My daughter turned 1 2-12-07 and i feed her milk ... we are taking formula away gradualy .. but i feed her milk at bed time because she gets up in the middle of the night still and wants mik around 3-4 am. How do i break that?? She will sleep most nights but she wakes up some nights hungry and i feed her before bed. She is VERY pettit lol and people think i do not feed her lol is it her matabolisim?

It's not a "feeding" but my almost 4 year old still has to have his cup of juice, water or milk before he goes to bed. It's his "snack". We have never not given him something before bed time. Good luck!

I can't say I've ever heard of a "time" to stop giving them something before bed. My daughter is going to be 1 on march 1st and I still try to give her milk before she falls asleep but lately she doesn't seem to want it so she's kind of weening herself off of it I guess. Plus she's not good at sleeping through the night all the time so I try to make sure she's full just incase that's her problem. lol!

Right about now is good. I stopped nursing my daughter before bed at age 1. If it's a big issue for your child, start by reducing the amount over a period of time, depending on how particular he is. Maybe offer a sippy cup of water as a replacement. Alot depends on how attached your child is to it. I used to sing and read stories while she nursed and she barely noticed when I sang and read without nursing her. I know some kids are more attached, but it's important that they learn to go to sleep without the bottle. Good luck!

Hello L.. My now four year old stopped night time feedings when she stopped eating out of a bottle at ten months. I started giving her formula in a cup when she started eating off of a spoon, but she had formula in a bottle until ten months. The best time to stop bed time eating is when he is ready. If you are trying to stop the bedtime bottle I think the best first step is to increase the amount of food he eats during the day and possibly give him a feeding or snack earlier before bedtime, for instance 7p if he goes to bed at 9p. I also think that when we do something out of love it cannot be wrong. Best of Luck!
