I have a lady that might want me to watch her 7 year old little girl for some overnights (Sat. 5pm-Sunday 9am) and when school is out for holidays. I have a 9 year old that she'll be able to play with. What should I charge for watching her? I'm thinking a day rate and overnight rate since it sounds like I'll be keeping her for whole days instead of a few hours.
In our area $50 and up is average I've come across for one off types, or once a week types.
Also keep in mind that 40 hours of childcare in our area for potty trained children is between $250-$600 a week. The YMCA charges $425 per month for 3 hours of afterschool care a day, or $40 per day... and they're (obviously) the cheapest thing around that isn't subsidized.
Something like this maybe:
Day rate of $25/day for the hours of 6am-10pm (includes up to 9 hours, additional charge for more)
Overnight rate of $15 for the hours of 10pm to 6am.
The Y charges $125/week for summer camp, that's full time care, so $25/day, which is where I came up with that number.
My siter charges $25 a day for full care 630a to 5p.
My old babysitter would charge $30 for my infant overnight so maybe 25 for the overnight cuz she's older and won't need the same care.
My old sitter used the charge $20-25 for a full day... I moved out of the state which is why she's the old sitter. $25 for 6 hours would break down to 4.16 an hour which to me is pretty good since some centers want as much as your job pays you lol.
