Im not big on my kids having tons of candy, so the Easter bunny usually brings them a gift. I usually do some kind of gift that they can have fun with outside but I dont know what to get. They pretty much have everything!! My daughter is 6 and my son is 2. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

My kid's are teenagers now so I just give them a mushy card with some cash.

But when they were little, I put lots of little cheap toys in their baskets. Wind up things, nothing like a fresh box of crayons or colored pencils and a new coloring book, matchbox cars, books. Ah, those were the days!

And a little candy, but not a lot. Just a chocolate bunny and whatever they liked that the others did not. They also got a new Easter outfit for Mass. And I put in a new rosary, pin, book, or some other faith related item as well.

Happy Easter!

:)

Here is what I came up with. Clearly some of these items are more age appropriate for your daughter.

book of devotions, prayer book or Easter theme books
sidewalk chalk
bubbles
a kite
beach balls
fun beach towels
kid size beach chairs
jump ropes
sunglasses
sun hats
flip flops
kid's garden tools & gardening gloves
bug catcher
frisbee
water balloons
rocket balloons

We got our 2 year old a little bit of candy and some bubbles, beach toys and a beach bag. My mom got her a pillow pet, bathing suit and beach towel.. Other moms on here were talking about getting their kids stuff for the summer like bathing suits, flip flops, books, gift cards to their favorite fast food places etc. I think all those are pretty good ideas.

The easter bunny is bringing our 2 year old and five year old camelbak back packs (the hydration packs. You fill them with water and it has an attached straw). I know this isn't a "typical" Easter basket treat, but my son and hubby go kayaking almost every weekend during the summer, so it will get used on the kayak. We are also big campers and here in Texas it gets hot and we need to stay hydrated. The two year old won't use hers quite as much, but she will grow into it for sure. We have a little candy for the eggs, but not much (We still have valentine candy hanging around). So there will be coins for their piggy banks and trinkets in the eggs.

Our Easter Bunny brings bubbles (the universal sign of spring), some new hair clips for our daughter, some Matchbox cars for my son, coloring books, new narkers (markers in our house), and mini bags of carrots.

I do a chocolate bunny (small one) and some jelly beans inside those plastic eggs (not too many). Then small toy, books, stickers. I don't usually put too much in there. My kids are 7 and 4.

Our easter bunny brings little toys in the giant plastic eggs, like matchbox cars and plastic dinosaurs (beware: these don't fit in standard size eggs!). Goldfish crackers, cereal bars, fruit roll ups (we really don't buy snacky things on a regular basis, so this is a treat). Little board books, sidewalk chalk, coloring books, stickers. And yes, candy! :)

My Daughter is 28 months. I bought her a kite, a new ball for outside, sidewalk chalk, a pillow pet, a small game for the car and a new swimsuit and towel for the summer.
For her eggs, I have 24 of them...most are filled with coins to put in her piggy bank. I have a few that are filled with candy but I plan on having "the 7 days of Easter) where she hunts for 1 egg every day and gets the candy in that one egg
For the both of them...how about an outside slip and slide water thing for the summer.

My kids are 4 and 2 and they are each getting a handful of plastic eggs with jelly beans in them, the 4 yr old is getting a Disney Fairy magnet/coloring book/activity set (sounds more elaborate than it is) and the 2 yr old is getting a Hungry Caterpillar board game. I picked up both toys after christmas for WAY cheap...I like to do outdoor stuff for the spring too and I saw a set of four sack race bags made out of the parachute material at World Market last weekend...of course you can make your own or decorate old pillowcases. World Market also had the parachute, but I don't know if two kids or a family of four can really have fun with it, I think you need more people. I also saw lots of kids gardening kits at Walmart with smaller versions of tools and seed packets with pots/greenhouses, again really easy to make your own and tailor it to your kid...

How about a coupon for going to the movies as family. Going to the movies is a special treat in our house. Or buying a special book.

I fill their baskets with outside stuff too! I get them finger paints, water colors, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, sunglasses, etc. I usually have to buy this stuff every year anyways, so they get it at Easter.

My boyfriend and I got his four year old son a fishing pole and plastic worms. He absolutely loved it. We went this past weekend. For actual Easter day we are probably getting him a small tackle box now that we know he loves it so much.
It may be too advanced for the 2 yearold, but your daughter would love it! And your son would love seeing the fish. It is a great family activity! Wal-Mart has Dora, Barbie, and Tinker Bell fishing poles for girls and Transformers, Spider Man, and Spongebob for the boys.

Always a chocolate bunny, a few filled plastic eggs, some with stickers or trinkets, some with jelly beans. Then I pick a theme.
It's a great time to get ready for outside fun. Sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a bathing suit, flip flops. You have to buy all that stuff anyway, might as well knock that out.
For your 6 yr old you could do a bug collecting basket. Walmart has a section of toys devoted to outdoor adventure - kids binoculars, butterfly net, a jar to keep bugs in, and a magnifying glass.
If she's not into that, you could do a kids magazine subscription. Buy one issue of it to put in the basket and then she will get mail all year. Throw in some glitter glue, stickers, and markers and you've got a happy girl.

Target had Stepping Stone kits for $5....I scooped up 2 yesterday. I know the 2 years olds won't look the best, but they love to do art. Good outdoor project. Our kids each made one last year (they were 2.5 and 5 at the time), but all the paint faded from the sun, so we will make new ones.

Also bought bubbles, coloring books and a harmonica...my husband will love that ;)

Easter is a gift holiday? I would consider doing something together like planting seeds for the vegetable garden or flower as a celebration of Spring and rebirth. You could plant seeds in pots for later transplant if it's too early where you are.

keep it simple & try very hard to avoid going overboard!

Some misc candy, a chocolate bunny, & that's about all they need to eat! A book for each child, something fun to wear that day (a hat, sunglasses, a purse, bunny ears). Some blow-up punching balls are great fun, as are bubbles! I've been known to add in a Barbie or HotWheels. But I do try to keep it below $20 for each child....& cheer if I can do better!

When did Easter become the new Christmas (i.e., a major present/gift holiday)? It was not like this when I was a kid.

My daughter will get a LITTLE candy in the plastic eggs, new flip flops for the upcoming season and maybe some new hair ties/barretts. I like to do a little but it's important to me that we remember the REASON for Easter.
