Welcome Home Box for Female Navy Officer Returning from the Middle East

A person I graduated from high school with has just completed a tour of duty overseas "Somewhere in the Middle East." (She's in the Navy. I don't know her that well. We've reconnected through our 20th reunion and Facebook.) I want to send her a welcome home box of goodies, but I don't know what to put in it. Can anyone give me ideas? I was hoping some military families could help me out. I was (is?) a military brat, but that was a long time ago. I need some help getting my creative juices flowing. I want the package to be waiting for her when she returns "stateside." She's single, no kids, has a dog, and likes to run. So far all I have come up with are itunes gift cards, restaurant gift cards, and a welcome home banner. Any other ideas would help a lot. Thanks in advance! H.. M.

What can I do next?

what about a short term subscription to a local newspaper to help her get back in touch with her home town? You could buy one paper and put it in the box to "announce" the gift subscription that would be starting soon. You could call the local parks department and see if they have a map of jogging trails in the community or a list of upcoming races in the area.

Another idea might be a blockbuster gift card, or just include some dvd's. There might be plenty to catch up on. And, some home made treats could be fun. She may not take the time to make cookies for her self:) Of course, a massage gift cerft is always nice:) Maybe even a magazine subscription would be fun. Sounds like a fun box to put together! ~A.~

Since she likes to run, maybe some associated things: pedometer, running socks, water bottle with belt clip-on, certificate from you saying you will join her for a run anytime, anywhere (she might enjoy the company as much as anything else)

What a thoughtful idea! Is she a coffee/tea drinker? A nice package of good coffee or box of tea, along with a pretty mug, would be nice. You could add a good book or a subscription to a magazine. Just some ideas to help her enjoy being home and relax. Of course, the itunes and restaurant gift cards are great, too, as well as the banner! Thanks you for honoring your friend as she returns from service to our country!

Include something spiritual if you find that appropriate. Not religious per se. A little Angel.
Are you creative? How about making a cool bookmark and including it with a book you think she might like. A cool scarf? AND I would also include a dog toy!

Dear Holly,
I have done this before and they have really enjoyed it. You can give me as a gift for free. What that means is that you put a certificate in the box that lets her know that she is receiving a free pampering session through Mary Kay.
If you would like to give her a gift certificate that includes a dollar amount that she can spend at her facial that is up to you. At the facial she will receive a basic facial treatment, along with a microdermabrasion treatment, and lastly a new color look taught to her. She receives samples of a second color look to try on her own at home and walks away rejuvenated. She is not required to buy anything.
She has served our country doing a lot and deserves to have a fresh start coming back home.
If you would like to include me in the box simply let me know.
Taking care of you,
R.
