I get mine out in June, I sure hope it helps with weight loss. That would be GREAT news!

A friend of mine lost weight when she had her removed. I've had the Mirena for about 18 months. I've gained 10 pounds that won't budge since it was placed and every time my period is near, I gain another 3-5 pounds!. Nothing in my diet or lifestyle has changed so it must be because of the IUD. I hope that when I finally have it taken out that the weight comes off...

Yep! I lost 10 lbs after removing my Mirena. I found it impossible to take any sort of weight off while on it, and now, I have a much easier time losing weight. The doctor's told me that weight gain/difficulty losing weight was not a side effect, but I have talked to too many women who have told me otherwise!
