I use to work for an OB-GYN and we used to have patients come in pregnant after missing just one pill. I would check with your OB-GYN I personally would want to know how long it takes for all the extra hormones to leave your body. Eventhough you might be able to get pregnant the first month off the pill, you might want to make sure it is safe and your hormone levels aare at a normal level especially if you were on the pill for a long time.

I know with me it took a year from the time I stopped the pill to conceive with my first. MY second was quicker but we also didn't "concentrate" as much ;)
My third took a bit longer too but we were trying for "the boy" and read "the book"...it worked!!
Just don't get frustrated!!

You just pretty much stop taking them. It could take up to a year to get pregnant with baby #2. Birth control pills are one of the birth controls that take the longest for the body to bounce back from.

I know that trying to conceive can be very difficult and emotionally draining. I have a reproductive anomoly called uterus didelphus...I have 2 uteri! I am a freak of nature! LOL!

But on a lighter note, I can help make your conceiving expreience with your husband be more fun again...because I know it can be very stressful. I've heard it takes about 3 months for the pill to leave your system.
Then again, my mother always used to tell women that when they wanted to get pregnant they should go on vacation....the point being that thinking about it is enough to make it NOT happen. Good luck!

make sure you talk to your OBGYN ... I got pregnant the month after I went off the pill (it wsa actually less than a month) becasue I was told it would take months for the pill to get out of my system - I am SUPER fertile though - I got pregnant with my third after one try! Just make sure you use alternate protection if you do not want to get pregnant right away :P

I would get of the pill right away. I am 28 and am also trying to conceive baby #2. I went off birth control 4 months ago and gave myself a month for it to clear out of my system and for my cycle to get back on track. I had dreams of a September, October or November baby, but have had no luck the last 3 months that we have been trying. I have accepted that it wasn't meant to be these past couple of months, but at the same time I really wish I had went off birth control sooner.

With my son, I got pregnant the 3rd month I was off birth control (I had been on for 6 years prior), so I thought this time I would get pregnant quickly because I had only been on birth control for a year and a half. (Plus, I thought that because I already had a baby that it would be easier to get pregnant again) But, I have learned that it isn't as easy as you think to get pregnant afterall.

I'm not trying to scare you, I just don't want you to be as disapointed as I have been when you start trying in May or June.

I'd get off right away... If you're very curious about when/if you are fertile, check out either "The Garden of Fertility" or "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" (books) and you'll be able to tell if/when you are fertile again probably just by checking your cervical fluid. Once I understood all that good stuff I knew I was about to get my period 3 days before I did after 13 months of lactational amenorhhea (breastfeeding infertility-no cycle). Really helps you understand what's going on with your body.
