Want to Surprise My Husband

My husband's birthday is coming up, and I have a total creative block!! We just moved here this summer, so we don't have scads of friends to throw a big party - I'm wanting to take him someplace REALLY cool for dinner (he really likes pubs and sports bars)or maybe go spend the night in a hotel (where he can sleep in the next day!), but I am looking for some really fun ideas. There's not enough stuff I could do to show him how awesome he is - so I'm looking for any ideas that are out of the ordinary. It doesn't have to be in the Tampa area... my folks will probably be the ones keeping the kids, and they are in Sarasota, so if anyone knows some cool things down there, too, that would be helpful. Thanks!

What can I do next?

If you're in Tampa, my husband and I LOVE Tampa Bay Brewing Company down in Centro Ybor right below the movies. They have valet parking right out front and validate it inside for a discount. There's a Hilton right near there that's fairly new (within the last 8? years or so) that's nice and you guys could even go to a movie or walk around and check out some other places. They have a cigar shop if he likes those. We're not big into the clubs at this point of our lives/age, but we LOVE the Brew Pub's beer made there and the food it outstanding!!!!! OR, you could take the trolly down there if you stayed at the Marriott downtown and then go back to Channelside for movies/drinks or whatever. I just highly recommend the Tampa Bay Brewing Company's food/beer if you've never been. Have fun!!

I work in Sarasota and recently went to a Holiday Party at the Ritz Carlton in downtown. It was really nice. A little pricey (thank goodness my company paid).
Anyway, there are alot of things I hear that are nice downtown. It is near the water with good sites. You can google Sarasota and find a few things to look at. There is also a day trip to the Keys that goes out of Fort Myers for about $150 per person, it is called the KeyWest Express you can check it out on-line.

There is a great little place to eat on the water at marina jacks island, over by the park......also the grill at marina kacks is great too, and has outdoor sitting, and not too expensive. Were from Sarasota, and i cant really think of much right now, but i will think later on about it, and post later today! I grew up in sarasota, so it shouldnt be too hard.

Hi,
I am in hurry .. but Sarsota does have cool places. You can go to St. Armands circle and have dinner at Columbia or there are many other great places to eat .. take a round in horse-buggy .. we have actually never stayed at Holiday Inn at Lido Key .. but have gone there to eat breakfast -- view is awesome. And from Sarasota Marina, you can take LaBarge .. or there is another dinner cruise .. which goes from Marina... and enjoy the sunset.

Let me know if you need more help .. got to go now .. take care

There is a really nice Irish Pub on Brandon Boulevard, right beside PetsMart. You might try that place. There are also some wonderful Bed & Breakfasts in the Sarasota area.
