Vitamins for Toddler

Hi Moms, my daughter is 3, and I'm looking for a vitamin that she will like. This is very challenging since she doesn't like any of the gummy candies or anything that really has flavor, if it's not real food. She doesn't like candy or chocolate at all, but does love real fruit. I have gotten Pedia-Vites, and even super diluting it, she won't drink it, so, that is $10 down the drain. Vitamins are too expensive for just trial and error, so I was hoping there might be something out there that you have tried, that your picky eater will take! She has a pretty good "whole foods" diet, but lately hasn't been keen on greens, so I really wanted to try supplementing. I am aware of hiding veggies in their food, but, I'll admit, right now, I am lazy and just wanted a supplement (how bad is that?!!) Thanks Moms!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I do make smoothies almost everyday with yogurt and frozen fruit, and I have been wanting to boost it somehow, and thought of the spinach for extra vitamins/minerals, but was skeptical, but there really is no flavor from it! It turns the smoothie an awful color, and my daughter cried when I put it in the blender for the 1st time (she always helps) but she drinks them! I will also try the Spirulina. I think we're in good shape! Thanks Mamas!!!

My girls were healthy eaters and not big on candy or chocolate either. I asked the doctor what vitamins were best and then let them pick out the one they wanted to take. One picked Flinstones and I don't remember what the other one picked but they took them with no problems. A lot of times just letting the child chose what they want works.

If she likes smoothies just add a handful of fresh spinach. I promise she'll never know. try it it tastes great. Add fruit, yogurt ,something frozen, like bananas or frozen fruit and the spinach or other greens. a great breakfast food. Also, Mother Earth healthfood store sells super food vitamins for kids and will refund your money if they dont like them.

My son likes the Dr. Sears chews, but since your daughter doesn't like that kind might be hard. He also likes Ola Loa vitamin drink.

Good luck!

You can try the Carnation Instant Breakfast throughout the day which has lots of protein and calcium, or try the V8 Fusion which tastes like fruit juice but has a full serving of veggies as well. My kids love the Yummy Bears, but they're gummies. However, we had a friend who hates all vitamins try them when she was here and she loved them too. If you're really wanting a vitamin, you could gather all your mom friends and see if each will give you a sample of the vitamin they use. Then you won't have to spend money on vitamins she won't eat!

your daughter is at an age where learning good eating habits is crucial AND will stick with her for life. Good for you being honest to yourself and us about being lazy but force yourself because it's so important. Wash some kale, throw it in the blender with some almond milk (high in calcium and protein) and a few berries or whatever is seasonal and blend up.
All these kids vitamins are filled with sugar and people think that it's ok as the vitamins will 'go down' but sugar will rob the body of absorbing the vitamins.

have you tried doing the liquid vitamins and just putting a shot of it in her cup?
Otherwise growing up, I liked the flinstone vitamins. ..they are a pill not a gummy. My dad would break it up and put it in a tablespoon of water (or juice and I would eat it that way. See if you can do that and then give her a reward for taking the pill (like a sticker or 15 more mins of watching her favorite tv show)
Good luck

talk to doctor, some kids dont need a vitamin supplement cause they get enough through their diet.

I use baby food to slip in some veggies. Sweet potatoe is great in maranaria suaces cause it sweetens and lightens it up. For laugana i omit egg and subsitute the sweet potatoe. Same thing for meat loaf and change out bread crumbs for stuffing.

I don't have an answer for you, but thank you for posting this question. I have an entire bottle of princess gummie vitamins that my daughter refuses to eat. She hates gummy anything- except sour patch kids- my little silly girl.

I look forward to reading all the responses!

I recommend Shaklee products because I trust their research and quality control. Their products are all natural and guaranteed to work. Shaklee has a babies and kids line of vitamins. There's a big difference between the synthetic vitamins you can buy at the drug store and all natural/organic vitamins like Shaklee. And there’s a 100% money back guarantee.

I'm a Shaklee distributor. You'll find the Shaklee Babies and Kids line of vitamins at: http://bit.ly/gHkjNY . There are 2 vitamins to consider: One is Shakleebaby Multivitamin and Multimineral Powder and the other is Shakleekids Incredivites (chewable fruit flavored).

I'm a distributor with the company and use many of the products. If you have any questions or need more information, I'm happy to talk with you. I don't login to this site very often, so the best way to contact me is thru my website. Click any of the links and look for the Contact Me button or my phone number.

Good luck. I know you want what's best for your daughter.

My daughter is extremely picky and I was sneaking Polyvisol into her drinks forever. She wouldn't try the gummy vitamins either, but then I broke down and bought the princess ones. My daughter is in love with the Princesses and I told her that she had to take her vitamins so she could grow big and strong and pretty like a princess. Somehow this worked and she now looks forward to eating them every day. Good luck!

Sounds like her diet is really good . . . she probably does not even need vitamins. You can also get her to drink her vitamins. They have Ensure drinks that have all the vitamins they need in them!!

Try Juice Plus or a generic of it. This is much better then vitamins because it is real vine ripened food. On another note, whatever you buy at Whole Foods, you can bring back opened or not.

Dear Mom,

There is a chewable unlike any other solft chewable product Juice Plus ... have you heard of it? Juice Plus is REAL FOOD (yummy too) and helps bridge the gap between what we should eat and what we actually eat - every day.

Not a chewable fan? It's also offered in a capsule that can be opened and sprinkled on food. Dr. William Sears renowned pediatrition recommends this to his patients. And, if you have a child(ren) between 4-18 years you can get it for them for FREE - when does your daughter turn 4?

Please check out my website www.vineripejuiceplus.com (a picture is worth a thousand words).

If you would like more information please let me know.

For better health,
c.

PS. Juice Plus is substantiated by peer-reviewed published research studies done throughout the world ... that evidence based research! Making healthy eating a priority makes a big difference in your family's health but children struggle just as we adults do with eathing right especially in terms of getting the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables. All good nutritionists as well as the food pyramid recommended we eat 7-13 servings of fruits and vegtables every day. Juice Plus+ helps bridge the gap between what we eat and what we should eat - every day!
