Hi Moms,
My daughter just turned two and I'm having trouble getting her to eat her Nordic Naturals DHA fishies. I tried putting chocolate syrup on it, she still won't "bite". She eats her vitamin gummy bears no problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

So What Happened?

Okay, so I figured out a way to convince my daughter to eat her DHA gummy fish (she just turned two). If she eats her fishy then she gets a tiny piece of high-cocoa content (85%) organic dark chocolate. It's barely any cocoa (just 1 gram)but it sure motivates her, and now she's getting used to the gummies so she doesn't seem to mind them as much. Soon maybe I won't even need to use the cocoa. I'm so glad that I found a way to give her the gummies because they cost a lot and are really good for her.

I give my 2 yr old daughter NN Children's DHA in a liquid form. I give it in her rice milk first thing each morning, a 1/2 tsp is all she needs!

S. what about putting the lemon flavored cod oil in her water? Or maybe mixing it up with flaxseed & coconut oil for different flavors. I put these in our "power shake" every morning and my children don't even realize it is in there.

That's why they call them the "terrible twos". But most children as well as people just don't like to chew things or swallow pills! So, you may have to find another source for her nutrition. It appears that no matter what you do she's not going to budge. I have wonderful success with a nutrional berry drink that's made from blueberry, acai berry, mangosteen and durian. These are the ROYAL FAMILY of fruits and provide so much more this brand and is preservative free! Kids love the taste, plus you can mix it with another juice, make popsicles or fruit smoothies with it!! So many different ways to get an unbelievable source of not only Omega 3's but so much else. Plus it's great for the entire family! You don't have to go and buy different things for different members of your family - that expense adds up!

If you'd like more information, I'd love to share with you! You're doing the right thing for your daughter. Don't get caught up with her not wanting to eat them. You may be fighting a losing battle and you will only get more frustrated! There are other ways and I'd love to share how wonderful this nutritional is.

I've been lucky, both mine will eat their NN Fishies but I work with a little guy with feeding difficulties who isn't able to bite through his. I had his mom use a pin to poke a little hole in the fish and then she just squeezes it out top of a spoonful of yogurt. That way it's "hidden" in food, but she knows he's gotten it because it was right on top. We tried the liquid formula first but he didn't like the taste. Worth a shot! Good luck!

Hi S.,
My 2 yr. old son is a picky eater so I have a hard time getting him to eat nutritious foods. I give him 1 tbsp. of Trader Darwin's Organic Flax Oil I get from Trader Joe's. It has 7 grams of Omega 3 fatty acids and 3 grams of Omega 6. I mix it with his orange juice in the morning. He drinks it and doesn't mind. There's no taste to it just a little oily.
