Has anyone tried to concieve gender of your choice? I've read a few books and have heard from a few people ways to try to concieve a girl. Don't think I'm crazy first and for most I want a healthy baby but Thought it doesn't hurt to try for a girl. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

What can I do next?

We read the book "How to Predict the Sex of your Baby" a couple of my friends said it worked for them...So, I got it.
We have one girl and one boy. :)
I tried to do everything that was mentioned in the book but eventually just gave up after a couple months of not getting pregnant. I finally told my husband I didn't care what we had and that time we got pregnant with a boy. It just took me a little longer I guess.
But, we got one of each...However, I would've been thrilled either way!!!! :)

Read the book, take your temp. every day at the same time and record it. It changes before you ovulate(the book will explaine it all to you) It never hurts to try if you prepare yourself just incase you don't get a girl.

I have a friend that can't have kids and it makes me feel very fortunate that I can...I try to include them in things we do and made them my kids Godparents. :)
She would give anything to have a baby and wouldn't care what the sex was.
Be blessed with what ever God gives you...He knows what He's doing!!!!! :)
Read "How to Predict the Sex of your Baby" I got mine at Babies R Us.
Good luck!!!
Please let us know what happens. :)

I haven't checked this email for quite awhile and today I decided to read what the moms were asking about...would you believe that this was my question that I've been thinking about a lot as I am about to go off the pill and start pre-natal vitamins this Sunday...as we prepare to ready me for baby #2. I can understand your wish for a girl, and yes I too have a boy and adore him of course, but a girl would be fun too! Thank you for asking what I was thinking about. I don't know if our planning will work, but if you can help things along one way or the other well than congrats to you! Hope pink booties are in both our futures! Good Luck!

It could be all for naught. There are some men who have undetected chromosomal disorders and can only produce a child of one sex. We have 3 girls. Chances are that if we had 10 children; they would all be girls, becuase that is all that my husband can father. It would be nice to "plan" our families, but unfortunatley, you get what you get!

We have a girl on 1 trial. What we did was tried on day 12. You start counting day 1 which is the first day of your menstrual cycle. Days 9-14 you are most fertile. I would try towards the end of the fertility period & pray that it's a GIRL. Good luck hope it all works out.

I've heard there are ways to improve the chances, but I haven't heard anywhere of "guaranteed success".

There's a procedure called "PGD" - Pre-genetic diagnosis? It's supposed to possibly help, but again, no guarantees. I've heard of couples who used this procedure to get pregnant hoping they would get a child of a certain sex only to get the opposite sex, and then were unhappy.

There is a book called "How to Choose the Sex of your Baby". I don't know if what's in there works or not though - we had to go through a reproductive specialist to get pregnant.

I know of a couple who "kept trying" until they got a girl - they ended up with 9 kids (7 boys, 1 girl, and then 1 more boy).

I'd say this is an area where there are no guarantees.

For what it's worth - and good luck!

My husband and I followed the Shettles method (to conceive a girl) and conceived a girl on our first month trying! I know that the different books out there offer completely different advice, but the Shettles method worked for us! Good luck to you!

Not crazy for wanting a girl, but put it in God's hands and know that HIS plan for you is always better than your own, and HE knows what you need better than you do. We got a wonderful lesson in this with the birth of our 4th. We Sooooooo wanted a boy, but she's a beautiful and perfect fit to our family.

God Bless,

M.

I don't know if it's an old wive's tale or not, but I had always heard that if you douce with vinegar and water just before you have sex, you ill have a good chance for a girl. I have a couple friends that it really worked for (or it could have just been their time for a girl). My Daughter had 3 girls and finally when she decided that the fourth (regardless of what it was) is the last, she had a boy. Never hurts to try it.

You may have read it, "How to Determine the Sex of Your Baby". It worked for my sis-in-law. I thought it was too much work. I agree with the message below, don't get pregnant unless you are comfortable with NOT having a girl.

You're not crazy! ;-) Maybe you could focus on the power of 'intention.' Just take a few minutes everyday and focus on having a girl! Kind of a meditation. Visualize holding a baby girl, visualize her as a toddler, a teenager, ect. This is just a suggestion - I haven't tried it, but I would also like to have a girl for my second child, so I guess I am hoping it works for you!! ;-) Good luck!

Have you considered looking at the Chinese gender charts? From what I've been told, they're pretty accurate.

Either way, have fun trying!

Didn't work for us. From what I've read, it's almost all wives tales with a tiny graing of science thrown in so that you have, like a 49%/51% chance insterad of 50%/50%. And good lord, don't put vinegar up your va-J!

This one has the girl/boy on it too. Maybe try a few of these together to see what dates they most agree on!

Good luck!!!

I don't think that you are crazy for wanting a girl at all, but in my opinion it is all out of our hands. God has our lives mapped out! I would just pray and leave it up to him. I think I would also make sure that I was comfortable with the possibility of not having a girl! Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

I also wanted a girl (but would have been fine with a boy too). Trying 2 days before ovulation worked for me :)

I do not believe there is a scientific way to have a boy or girl; unless you adopt. In my mom's dad's family (blood line) there is only ONE girl per generation. I have uncles who gave up after 6 children and no girl :( I believe we are given the children God has planned for us and He always knows what is best for us.
