We are working on teacher appreciation week. We were going to have chair massages for the teachers and staff but found out it's too pricey. Does anyone have suggestions for teacher appreciation week? Our theme is "Red Carpet Week"

Thanks,
K.

I agree with Rachel. At our elementary school the PTA gets volunteer parents to take over lunch and recess for the classes so that the team can have a 1 hour lunch break with good food. Sometimes the food is catered, sometimes volunteers bring it in. They set up and decorate a nice area in the school with pretty table cloths, etc and make it a special lunch.

Also, for teacher birthdays, volunteers will take charge of the classes for lunch/recess so that the teams can have a birthday lunch as a group.

I do know that the special unrushed lunch is welcomed.

I did hand massages last year for a local private school. I gave the teachers goodie bags with samplers and a $10 gift card they could redeem on-line.
One of the PTA parents signed up the teachers and staff. I did the hand massages and Satin Hands treatment in the lounge area and the staff and teachers came during their planning or lunch period. The pta mom reminded them of their appt. time. It took 10 minutes and they left feeling special. (There was no sales pressure.) If they chose to schedule an appt. with me at another time for a complimentary facial, I doubled their gift card with a purchase of $40 or more. (All teachers and staff got a goodie bag with or without an appt.)

When I was a teacher, one thing I loved was lunch brought in and an extended hour. I remembered they catered lunch for us all from somewhere, and each teacher got a parent to cover their class for 30 minutes after the regular lunch period (I believe they showed a video or something), and we got an hour for lunch. They'd decorated the library all nice. It was a nice treat to not eat a school lunch or sandwich in the lounge, and it was especially nice not to have to rush and really get to sit and enjoy a nice conversation with each other. It wouldn't cost anything if you didn't want it too - you could have a pot luck provided by the parents.

If you decide to personalize any items, perhaps tote bags, email Irene of Sew Nice at ____@____.com might have some other ideas for the Red Carpet theme. I also noticed that you coach peewee football cheerleading and thought I'd mention that Irene has adorable cheerleading embroidery designs that can be personalized for your girls.

Okay since it's Red Carpet week why not have each day have a theme. You can ask the kiddos to participate as well. Some parents will send stuff that can and even if some don't you should have enough to go around.

For instance on Monday you can do Movie Monday. You can ask the kiddos to bring unopened popcorn, canned or bottled soda, and candy and make movie packs.

Tuesday- Take the Cake Tuesday

Put up a sign that says our teachers take the cake and moms and staff can bring in different kinds of cakes for the teachers to share.

Some other ideas.. Muffin Monday.. Thanks a Latte Tuesday and the teachers get Lattes, Flower Friday, the kids bring in flowers to make bouquets for the teachers.. Waffle wed. and teachers can have waffles..

Hope this helps.. I have a website I used last year if you would like the link.. let me know..

Hi K.,

thanks for trying to make things special for teachers--they work pretty hard to help our kids learn! When you say "red carpet week" I think "academy awards" --statues of appreciation, red carpet interviews, limos, introductions and acceptance speeches and photographers flashing photos. You might think about incorporating some of those features.
Have a fun week.
