Hello all,
I have another question concerning tattoos. Has anyone ever had one removed and had the scar covered with another tattoo? I only have one tattoo, and I really don't care for it. I'd rather not have any, as my husband doesn't care for them. He really doesn't like mine because it matches one that my ex-husband has...hindsight, eh? Any advice?

What can I do next?

You really should look at two choices-get the tattoo removed by laser or go to a very talented tattoo artist and discuss options for a cover-up. It is absolutely amazing what a talented artist can do as far as cover-ups are concerned.

There is absolutely no reason to do thru laser removal then get another tattoo. Doesn't make any sense financially or aesthetically.

If you would rather not have the tattoo then look for a qualified dermatologist or laser center for tattoo removal. But know that it takes far longer, is way more painful and costs way more than getting a cover up. I had a tattoo removed from my ankle (not too big & went all the way around) and it was very painful, cost about $2000 and it's still not completely gone. I had to stop treatments when I found out i was pregnant and J. never went back for my last treatment or 2. I would have to go home after the treatment, put my foot up and ice my ankle. Not fun!

And there really isn't a scar like what you think of when you think "scar". The skin on my ankle is J. a tiny bit lighter than the rest of my leg. Not noticable at all.

Which colors do you have in there? Green will never completely go away. How big is it? What area of the body is it on? I'm covered in tattoo and know tons about removal as well... send M. a PM for more info :)

My best advice: You had the tattoo when your husband married you. It's now part of you. He can accept you for who you are, right?

Im in the process of having a visible one removed. It is a very painful process, and the scar is tender for a very long time (I've been working on the removal treatments for 10 years!!!) I couldn't imagine how painful it would be to get another one on top of that scar when it is finally gone. I'd J. remove it and not worry about the scar, or use it to teach your kids that they better be very serious about it if/when they get tattoos ;o)

My sister had one removed and I want to say she had to go several times to get it zapped. It's barely there now, and I know she said it was worth it. She had it removed with laser technology and by a company who only removed them as a business.

Depends on where it is, it's color, it's size etc
There are great tattoo artists out there that can cover it up with something else, all depending on the above things.
I design all my tattoos.
I'm actually in the process of designing a cover up. Same kinda situation lol
i got a tat with my ex b/f. when we were still only friends.
My husband isn't bothered by it, but it bugs M. to have it there.

I saw one once that was "overdrawn" (drawn over the location of another one) and eww. the scar would have looked better in my opinion (it was on her forearm, near the crook of her elbow- drew over with cherries - so strange. . .)
With all the great, newer, scar healing creams and peptides, I'd J. eat the cost to have it removed and treat the scar and leave it at that.
Good luck with your decision. :)

My daughter had an old boyfriends name tattooed on her ankle. He committed suicide and she had the tattoo put on in his memory. She later decided she wanted to get rid of it. She got a lovely flower put over it. I make excess scar tissue so a removal of any kind would leave horrible scarring. So my thoughts automatically go towards J. changing it to something more in line with your lifestyle and loves now.
