Anyone have a gas one? What do you think of it? Are they worth the cost- does yours save you money? Are you glad you did it, or disappointed? Consumer Reports said they are not worth it. Our old standard hot water heater died in a flood this weekend in our basement. I'm curious what you think.

When our tank blew in our hot water heater (about 2 years ago), the plumbers recommended against them because of the cost of redoing the piping, etc. (our house was less than 4 years-old at that time).
We opted to repair what we had and haven't had any second thoughts. Good luck with your decision.
We looked into this a couple of years ago when our tank died. Because retrofitting can cause a lot of additional expense, we went with another tank. I understand it can be economical for new construction. Our church installed them in a new building, and they are working out well there, where people basically use them only for hand and dishwashing. I don't know anyone who has them in a home setting.
You can contact your electric company and get their opinion. Ours offers 2 energy-efficient, regular models.
We have had our for 5 years and love it. I can run my washer, dishwasher, and two showers at the same time and not run out of hot water. It has paid for itself and now we are saving $$$ with it. Although it does take time to get the hot water upstairs but part of that is our low water pressure.
