When my children were small the doctors had me slowly switch from formula to regular milk. I would mix 1/4 milk with 3/4 formula for about a week then go 1/2 and 1/2 and so on until they were just drinking milk.

Start weaning her by mixing formula and milk (whole milk) 3/4 formula 1/4 milk, for a week or so, then go half and half for a week or so, and then 1/4 formula 3/4 milk for a week or so and then you can put her on straight milk. Whole milk though until she is 2 years old. Her developing brain needs the fat cells that are found in whole milk. Good luck

What I did when my kids needed to switch to milk was to mix the milk in with their formula. You need to use whole milk with a child who's under 2 to insure they still get enough fat.

Start by substituting 2 oz of milk in each bottle (so, 6 oz formula, 2 oz milk for an 8 oz bottle) for two weeks. The next two weeks, make the bottle half milk, half formula. Continue adding more milk every two weeks until you are no longer using formula.

When you add the milk, make sure it is a little cooler than the formula (if you feed warm bottles) so that a cold milk bottle won't be strange to your daughter. This method worked very well with my kids and was recommended by their doctor at the time.

Give Her milk in a cup, at meals. It will make the transition easier. But then you can start to weed the bottle out as well with the milk. Reassure her she is a big girl and only babys get a baba. It helps.

Looks like you got fabulous advise here. This actually what I was going to say as well. Also watch out for constipation. My oldest daughter had the worst constipation when we switched her over to milk. If your child gets it make sure you tell the doctor.

My sisters daughter just turned 1 and I asked her if she had introduced her to milk yet and she told me that no one had told her anything about switching (like how to do it). Depending where your daughter is in formula (6 or 8 ozs), anyway, put 2 oz of milk in with 6 oz of formula (or 4 if she is only drinking 6 oz). Then after about 4 days do 2 more ozs, or if you wish to go slower go 1 oz at a time. Keep doing this until all she is drinking is milk. It worked out well for my neice and I hope it works out well for you.

when I did this I gradually put some milk (whole only) into the bottle so 3/4 formula, 1/4 milk... do this a couple days to a week, then the next week add a little more milk and less formula and continue this until they are on only whole milk... be sure it is whole milk for nutrients... good luck

Hi there. When my son was old enough to switch we tried everything. It started with putting a couple of ounces of regular milk in his formula all the way to full milk (eventually), but no matter how we did it he refused to drink it. We even tried powdered milk. He would drink chocolate or strawberry milk and they said it was okay, in moderation. He didn't drink white milk (not even in cereal) till he was about 2 1/2 - 3 yrs. old. I consulted his dr. and they told me that as long as he was getting dairy products (yes, even ice cream - with limits) he would be just fine. He would only drink water, juice or flavored milk till HE decided he wanted to drink white milk. I craved milk really bad when I was pregnant which I didn't with my first two. My first two I couldn't even hardly look at milk without throwing up. I suggest just trying the slow dilution of formula to all milk. It might work for you. If not, don't despair! Give your daughter lot's of yogurt, cheese and stuff like that and she should be fine. My son now loves milk but won't eat yellow cheese! :)

Our daughter's doctor suggested doing half formula, half milk, and then gradually decreasing the formula and increasing the milk. It worked very well for her.

What i did was start with 2 oz of milk to 6 oz of milk. I did that for about a week and then did 4 oz of milk and 4 oz of forumula for a week. Then I went to 2 oz of formula and 6 oz of milk and then the next week I just went right to all milk and my daughter didn't even seem to notice. In fact I think she likes milk better. Good Luck

Waht you can do is start by adding some milk to her bottles. I would start by adding 2oz milk to 6oz of formula and slowly increase the milk and decrease the formula. Like every week increase it by an ounce of milk. Hope that it helps you. L.

My suggestions is a little different than these others, but it worked for us so I figured I'd throw it in the mix :) When we switched my son over from formula to milk we started by substituting one bottle of formula for a sippy cup of milk. Eventually he was only drinking formula in his morning and bedtime bottles and all day long he was drinking sippy cups of milk. Then we lost the morning bottle and he was down just to the bedtime bottle of formula. It's still a gradual technique, just a little different. I know not all kids take well to the taste of milk though so if that's the case the other suggestions sound like the way to go. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Start mixing 2 oz milk 6 oz formula, Do this for a few days then increase it 4oz milk to 4oz formula for a few days then 6oz milk to 2 oz formula, for few days then start giving just milk in a sippy cup.Thats the right way to do it.. What I did for my kids was I just did half and half for a week or so and they were fine with it.
any way you do it is ok because regular formula is milk based, (if she is on regular formula).
Just make sure you get baby vitamins from the DR. to replace the vitamins in the formula

At first I just put a little of each in a bottle... I didn't measure. In the next few days I just lessened the amount of formula and added more milk. After the few days I just went to straight milk. I know they say to give your kids whole milk, but my kids didn't like it. It would sit very heavy in their little stomachs and would throw up. They took very well to 2%. The doctor said it was fine. It's funny because that's all either of them drink now. I found it so sad to be done with formula because it meant that weren't babies anymore.
Good Luck,
T.
