Having hard time finding a good swim class for my son who is 6 years old. He has been in a pool since he is 6 months old and loves the water. He now needs formal lessons, any suggestions?

What can I do next?

www.dolphinswimming.com Check this organization out. Their swimming lessons are great and easy step-by-step for the children to learn. There is generally one instructor for max 2 children during a lesson for the younger ones.

Hi,

I'm not sure where you're located but a friend of mine recommended me to "swim jim" who give lessons at Bally's in Tuckahoe Road ###-###-####) their cost was less expensive than the YMCA in White Plains. Swim Jim also has other locations they teach at. My daughter is 4 years old and they do it in groups of 5 which I prefer.

My son has been taking lessons from Aquatots at Manhattanville College. I can't begin to tell you how impressed I've been by this group. Their website is www.aquatots123.com

Pace University in Briarcliff/Pleasantville on Route 117 offers top notch American Red Cross swim lessons. You do not need to be a member of anything nor a student at Pace to avail yourself of the lessons.

P.S. Read your profile: I too lament the lack of consistent adult interaction and feel the neglect of my MBA skills. The closest I've come is running a Scout troop, in my case, Girl Scouts. But staying home is more important right now.

Try the YMCA in Tarrytown, or the brand new Ossining indoor/outdoor town pool. Good luck and good for you for getting swim lessons so early. Then it is one less thing to worry about down the line!

HI A.,

My hubby is a SAHD too and he signed up our six year son at YMCA in Flushing. He's a great dad. Was very concientious about making sure he'll be able to watch my son while he is taking his lessons and that there is a "family" dressing room so my son is not out of his sight. Good luck in your search. A. B
