Hi,

I will shortly be moving to CT from Chicago, my husband will be working in Westport. We are looking for a good area to search for rental homes that are a near Westport ( I am not sure if we can afford Westport itself my husband has only been once and said it looks very expensive), we can afford $2500-3000 a month and would like a 3/4 bed with a yard and a garage.

I will also be looking for a local Elementary for my eldest daughter and a good preschool for my youngest suggestions for those is also much appreciated!

Any rental agent/company names would also be handy. :0)

Thanks,

Sal

Welcome. The whole area is expensive. Very. I live in Fairfield, the town just north east of westport. It is a wonderful town. Great schools (top in the state) lots to do with kids and adults, beaches, and nice people. You could try any real estate office for rentals. There are quite a few but I don't know the prices. Join our Welcome Club if you move here. I did 4 years ago and have a lot of great friends in town because of it. Good luck and I hope you like CT.

Hi, I live about 15 minutes from Westport and think you would enjoy living in North Stamford. I went to relator.com and input your monthly rent requirements and I found one house. I bet that you can talk them down in price. This is a very nice area of North Stamford.

I am sure that you can find morehomes by using an agency or calling this company and asking them if they have more houses in your price range. I have heard that North East Elementary School is quite good. Not sure about pre-schools as I have just started my search on that but I know that there are two pre-schools with very good reputations just a couple of blocks from this house. There is the Long Ridge School, The Mead School and
a bunch of other less expensive schools in the area.

Good luck with your move.

We live in Fairfield also and agree with Kristine, Fairfield County in general is so expensive! $3,000 would probably get you a 4 bedroom house right here in town. Osborn Hill is a great elementary school from what I hear and there are plenty of preschools to choose from, to name a few:

Grace Methodist
Black Rock Congregational
Greenfield Hill Nursery School
Southport Congregational
A Child's Garden (more of a daycare I believe?)
St. Paul's

My 3.5 year old son goes to the YMCA preschool and loves it, we all do. So that's also an option.

Let me know if you have any more questions! Would be happy to help.

You're right. Westport is pretty expensive, but you could look at Trumbull and Monroe, which I think have decent schools (north of Westport off the Merritt Pkwy). We live in Stamford but have a lot of friends that live there. There could be some houses in Fairfield that you could look at so that you get into that school system, but most are probably expensive. Finally there are areas of Norwalk that seem nice (up north) but I don't know how the schools are. Sorry I don't know more, I'm just going by what I know are good neighborhoods, etc.
