Hi,
I'm S. and I'm moving to Stamford, CT in a few days. I have a 2.5 year old daughter who loves to play outside. I'm wondering if there is any nice parks with nice and safe playgrounds near downtown Stamford. Thanks a lot.

What can I do next?

You really need to join CT-Moms, about half of our 200 members are right in or right around Stamford. We have a huge "Local Guide" which I've copied and pasted the entire chapter about parks/playgrounds below for your reference. Some of them are not in Stamford itself but closeby. Personally, I love the Cove Park as well as the Playground at the JCC. Keep in mind that the Boundless Playground at Stillmeadow school is closed during the schoolday (Sept-June from 7am-4pm)
Good luck with your move and the website for CT-Moms is:

Bruce Park Greenwich
“a little far, but has an excellent toddler/baby area for our crawlers/non-walkers. --Bruce Park (Greenwich off exit 3 across from the Musuem) Toddler area not enclosed; approx. 6 bucket swings plus 2 more on the other end by big kid area

Welcome! I hope you'll enjoy it here. I love Stamford-it's a great small to mid-sized city.

There's a great park called Twin Meadows Park, located behind Stillmeadow School on Stillwater Rd. It's not far from downtown, but you will need a car. It's a safe, large playground with play equipment for a range of ages. My son is 6 and I've been taking him there since he was 3. It's also pretty well fenced in making it safer that way as well.

Another place to check out is an indoor playspace in the Stamford Town Center mall, built especially for toddlers/pre-schoolers. There's usually a security guard stationed there to monitor for safe play, appropriate ages entering, etc. It will be a great alternative for rainy or cold days when she needs to get the wiggles out!

the one I and my daughter loves is not in the park, but the play complex is great - it's on Greenwich Ave.
For cold days - the one in the Stamford Mall.

There are 2 Boundless playgrounds in Stamford. http://www.boundlessplaygrounds.org/playgrounds/find/play...

and

http://www.boundlessplaygrounds.org/playgrounds/find/play...

I know the Twin Meadows is open to the public when school is not in session and would assume the same for the JCC. All of the schools in Greenwich have playgrounds that are also open after school.

The Cove (beach) has a playground and lots of grass.

The Stamford mall does have a great new Playspace for kids.

The Nature Center is also a great place. www.stamfordmuseum.org

There is lots to do around Fairfield County for kids. Once you get here the best thing to do is find a moms group. Ive heard lots of great things about www.geocities.com/momsclubofstamford/

Your realtor should also be able to put you in touch with some groups.

Hope this helps and good luck with the move!
