Stroller Strides, Stroller Fit, Etc...

I am thinking about possibly trying out Stroller Strides or Stroller Fit (whichever is in my area). Has anyone been to one of these classes? If so, what are you thoughts? What goes on during the classes? It seems right up my alley since I can't seem to make time to workout, but taking them with me might just work. Anything positive or negative is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I highly recommend Stroller Strides. I joined when my baby was around 6 months old and enjoyed the exercise and the ladies. If you stick with it and go as much as possible - you will see results. I recommend the Mckinney or Allen group!

Hi K.-

I am a StrollerFit owner and Instructor in the Plano/Frisco area. We have a location in Keller. Go to www.strollerfit.com/keller to get more info. The owner there is Jaye and it looks like she is having an open house on Jan. 30th. It would be a great time to go check it out. It's a great workout for you and fun for your baby! Good Luck!

Hi K.,
I teach Strollerfit here in San Antonio and its a great way to exercise and meet other moms. I originally joined because I moved here and didn't know anyone. It was a great way to lose those extra pounds and make friends, for both myself and my son. We do an hour long class, with cardio, strength training, and core stabilization. We also do songs and have music going so the kiddos don't get bored. We meet at Brackenridge Park or if the weather is bad, we met at Aerial Athletics. Right now, you can try three free classes, to see if its a right fit for you and your baby. Let me know if you have any other questions, ###-###-#### or www.strollerfit.com
Hope to see you soon!

Hey let me know what you find out. I am a teacher and I have a seventh month old boy, so I can't work out on the week days but I would love to do it on the weekends. What area do you live in? We could always meet somewhere on the weekends if you want. Let me know, I live near 1604/Bulverde.

Hi K.,

I am also an owner/instructor for Stroller Strides in the Plano/Allen area and while I could go on and on about how great our program is, I know that Strollerfit and Baby Boot Camp also have wonderful programs too!

I think that you should try the program that fits your schedule the best, and budget, and see which one that you enjoy the most. A lot of the time, it all comes down to the instructor. For example, do they motivate you, do they offer a fun workout geared toward many different fitness levels. Also, do you enjoy the company of the other attendees.

All in all, they are all great programs, the best part being that your children are there with you the entire time!

Hope this helps!

I've been doing Baby Boot Camp for over a month now and it's AWESOME!! It's the same type of program as you were talking about so you can bring your baby and get a great personal trainer. I've found that working out with other moms keeps me accountable and motivated. We're all supportive of each other and it's nice to be able to be social while working out pretty hard.
We also have Moms Night Out and other get togethers like a Holiday Party, etc. Many of the moms hang out together outside of class so it's truly a great way to make new friends AND lose weight/get in shape.
The program I attend is in Denton and they also have one in Flower Mound. However, there are other franchises in the metroplex and you can find them through the Local Business Reviews link on this page. It's under exercise and then yoga, personal trainers - that kind of thing.
Hope this helps!!

I enrolled in Strollerfit and loved it. I am based in Plano and the class was held at Collin Creek Mall last summer. My son was 3 months old and the class really help me get my energy back. You also learn exercises that you can do at home with your child.

I am no longer able to attend since I work full time and classes are held during the week days but I highly recommend it.

I absolutely love Strollerfit. I just came back from a class this morning. Joan Bond, the instructor, is wonderful. She will let you try out a class for free. There is no contract. The class covers strength, flexibility and endurance. The babys are surprisingly pretty good during the classes, as they are being entertained. This was one of my worries. If the baby is fussy, the instructor might cheer them up and you can always stop and tend to the baby. Basically, the babys will be in the stroller almost all the time. You will usually be next to the stroller doing exercises such as warmup or strenghtening. For the endurance you will utilize the stroller doing lunges across the gym or run or powerwalk around the gym. It is challenging, but you can always slow down if you need to. I am very glad I found Strollerfit. I feel so much better now knowing I am getting my much needed exercise (and one that works!) and at the same time I can bond with my child.
Good luck!

I think you should definetly try Baby Boot Camp. There are local camps I know in Allen, Plano, McKinney, and Frisco. I go to the one at YMCA McKiney- you don't have to be a member-it's great! Log on to www.babybootcamp.com you can try it out for free. K.

I am a member of StrollerFit and I love it. We do a bit of cardio and strenght training during class and you can take it at your pace. My toddler loves it as well. He thinks it is fun to see us do all the exercises and he is included. Instead of just counting all the time we will sing songs or nursery rhymes instead or count in another language. All while infront of your stroller. There are even modifications you can do if you are pregnant. Plus you get to meet other moms and kids. We do a monthly playgroup and a monthly mom's night out if you want. It has really helped me get into shape and loose weight. I like being able to get out of the house and exercise, but not have to worry about putting my child in a nursery at a gym. You also have moms right there to discuss things with, or ask about a product you see them use and if they like and where to get it. I think there is a StrollerFit link in the buisness review part of mamasource if you want to check it out.

K., I'm not sure where you are located, but I'm sure you already know who your Stroller Strides/Fit instructor is. I take these classes twice a week and I love the camraderie with other moms, as well as the overall circuit-type fitness. In Arlington there is a great instructor who is also very involved in creating activities for moms outside of the Stroller Strides classes, so moms and babies can get together to do activities. That is not part of the fitness class, but is just another way that this instuctor connects with her moms and babies and really shows how much she loves her job and cares about the well being of her mommies, too.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the classes.

Hi K.! I am the owner/instructor for Stroller Strides in McKinney, but way before I decided to own SS I took classes as a new mommy and LOVED it! It's a great workout and the bonus is that you can bond with your baby and meet other moms at the same time. The workout consists of a power walk and/or light jog with intervals of strength training using exercise bands, cardio bursts, etc. The classes are set up for all different fitness levels, so it can be as intense as you need it to be. Not only is it a great workout, but we also have weekly playgroups and a monthly Mom's Night Out. There are classes in Fort Worth, Arlington, Mesquite, Dallas, Richardson, Wylie, Garland, Allen, and McKinney. Here is the website if you want more info: www.strollerstrides.com. Good luck and have fun!!

Hi K.

I am actually a certified Stroller Strides instructor. I have 3 kids, ages 4, 2.5 and 1. I started going because there was no gym in the area and ended up loving it so much I got certified. It is an awesome workout! It works the total body and I lost 35 lbs doing it. Another benefit is that it is not only a workout, but we have playgroups, moms nights out, "field trips", etc. For the workout-we use a combination of interval training with resistance training using tubing. We warm up, take it up to a fast walk, stop do some bicep curls with the bands, squats, back out to a fast walk, cardio burst, wall sits, etc. We have a letter and color for each week and sing songs to the kids as we are working out. We end with abs. I highly recommend it! strollerstrides.com

Hey K.,
I just joined StollerFit in Frisco last week and I LOVE it! I hate, hate, hate working out (no gyms for me)But this is actually fun and it goes by really fast. My 5 1/2 month old really enjoys getting out and being around other kids and mommies. Totally entertaining for him, too! Very inexpensive but definately kicks your bootie!
