This website is not your best bet for that sort of thing. There are so many companies that do what you are proposing, you really need to find out how to stand out. A clever name is not the key to success.

My husband is an advertising professional, and he would tell you that you need someone with experience in that area - advertising, marketing, branding. He also has an on line business and we know all the pitfalls. You also need website development (for the technical end of things, a payment system, and design/copywriting). Your expertise may well be in the creative end - the monogramming and the design of the products - but it's an entirely different specialty to set up a business and make it visible through Search Engine Optimization, developing followers and newsletter/catalog recipients, and other ways to contact prospective and past customers.

I don't want to offend you, but your question itself has many spelling and punctuation errors, over a dozen in just in a few sentences. Maybe English isn't your first language, maybe you are posting from your phone, maybe you just aren't a good speller - none of those are your fault. But you absolutely cannot make any errors in a commercial site if you want to be taken seriously - your attention to detail on your website lets people know that you have good attention to detail in your products. And of course you may have the most beautiful website in the world, but if no one knows about it, you won't have any business. If you don't have several thousand dollars on hand to get this business launched, I do fear you are doomed to failure. I hate to see you lose your investment. You really have to get involved with professionals who can do the things you cannot do, and concentrate your skills where they are best put to use, in the monogramming and product design areas.

Have you written out a business and marketing plan? If not, you need to be speaking with a marketing rep, your CPA and legal counsel so you can start out on the right foot.

As you know, there are tons of online businesses out there with monogramming, etc. You have to have something that sets you apart from the MANY others.

We don't know you, we don't know your qualifications.

IF you are serious, get yourself set up properly with the counsel I listed above so you are doing everything right as per the IRS and their rules. Spend the money to do it right the first time and have a better chance at success.

As a business owner myself, not online, it is imperative that you have all the t's crossed and i's dotted perfectly because in the event of a mistake with the IRS, they don't buy the "I didn't know" reply when they audit you. You must be prepared.

I know it is cost effective (FREE) to come here and ask for names. However, you have to make sure you do not use a name that is already trademarked or being used somewhere. There is a lot more to this than finding a catchy name.

MANY people, some on this site, have successful businesses with sewing and services but they did the leg work needed to get where they are.

Etsy is a great site for smaller businesses to join. HOWEVER, you still have to prove yourself.

Best of luck!

This forum isn't going to help you name your business. You should consider a marketing guru or firm or just coming up with something yourself since this is your business.

Good luck to you.

What you're proposing is a business that has completely saturated the web. Try a google search and you'll find hundreds of larger companies doing just what you describe.

There are only two ways to make it in business. Differentiation, you do something completely different than your competitor or offering lower prices for the same product. With this business you can't do either. You can't compete with the big guys due to economies of scale and you really can't differentiate yourself as monograming is nothing new.

You should be thinking about why someone would go with your company over others and frankly how someone would even find you online.

I have two suggestions. One is start much smaller, many years ago I used to sell handmade items on Ebay and did quite well. Now I think the place to do that sort of thing is Etsy. A facebook business page is also a great way for the little guy to market their stuff and find customers.

Finally, not sure where you really live but if it's a smaller community than NY, NY you should look into a brick and mortar monogram/embroidery place. We are a small community and our little "monogram" place does a brisk business. Sports uniforms, letterman jackets, company logo clothing and I'm sure quite a bit of personal monograms. You could even work from home at first.

Forget the name at this point, you need a business plan first and foremost. These ladies are right, the irony of misspellings in a question about monograms is too much. Put more time and thought into what you're doing or you're destined to fail.
