I have just moved to Plano, (Midway and Plano Parkway). I am looking for an open minded group of persons or person who shares a love a enlighted thinking. (I hate the term New Age.) I love to read books like The Celestien Prophecy , Conversations with God and anything by Sanayan Roman. Is there anyone out there? My husband is a Masonic member but has not been to any meetings yet.

What can I do next?

Hi J., I recommend you check out a Unitarian Universalist church. There is a wonderful one in Dallas that I belong to that has many different groups and fellowships, one might fit what you are looking for. It is a progressive, liberal and open minded church. There is no "right" way to think. I drive from Plano to go there and it has saved me from going crazy from living in such a conservative place.

There is also a UU church in Carrollton, but I don't know too much about it. I love the one in Dallas, so I drive there. You can also go out to www.uua.org to find out about this wonderful religion and to find a congregation closer to you.

Good luck!

Hi J.!!
I'd like to invite you to join our MOMS Connection group at Fellowship Bible Church North in Plano (http://www.fbcnorth.org/Content/84.htm) -- this group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wed or Thurs (you choose whichever day works best for you - wed or thurs) -- from 9:15-11:30 a.m. -- childcare included in registration of $40 for the entire year (Sept-May). A typical morning is having a potluck breakfast (tables takes turns bringing food); and then listening to special speakers or presentations on Parenting, Motherhood survival, marriage building, discipling our children, etc etc. Then there's time after the speaker to discuss with your table our views/opinions on the matter.

We open this MOMS Connection to anyone and everyone in our community - metroplex really - that would love to meet other Moms and get a small break from the kiddos. You don't have to be a church member to join, nor a Christian. There are many women here that attend who are Muslim, agnostic, etc. All are welcome!! I've made many great friendships here! I don't know how I would've survived my baby years without this group of women to help me, guide me, give advice and support me.... plus, just having the knowledge that I wasn't the only one - that was so reassuring! Each table usually has a Mentor Mom, who is older, wiser and has the "been there, done that" advice to give. These women are special jewels!!

If you're interested, please email me back!! Or simply register online on the weblink above. The first meeting is Sept. 13/14. I'm attending the Thurs morning group so feel free to put my name down if you'd like to sit at the same table. I'd love to meet you!!!

Hi J.,
I'm like you in my reading preferences and would also like to meet like minded moms. Perhaps we can share ideas for good books or arrange a playdate for our kids? I have an 8 year old daughter and an almost 3 year old son. I look forward to hearing from you again, and welcome to Plano!
