...or not.

TMI, obviously, if hemorrhoids aren't your thing, stop reading now.

Have you ever had a bleeding one? Will it stop on its own, or do I have to have surgery? I've had one for years, but now it has started bleeding. Fun.

What can I do next?

I'm sorry, Rosemud. It's a pain in butt, isn't it! (All pun intended!)

I had a problem and went to a gastroenterologist. He did a digital exam and to my astonishment, mine got better. I think that when he did the exam, it pushed the hemorrhoid in.

He also gave me a prescription for a cream to be used every night until I didn't need to anymore. Regular non-prescription stuff isn't strong enough. Using it at night really helps because it stays all night helping.

Using wetwipes and Tucks pads during the day is also good (better than toilet paper.)

Eat prunes in the morning and fiber to keep you regular and prevent constipation. Drink PLENTY of water every day.

Hope this helps. I know the digital exam is hard, but it sure made a difference for me.

Dawn

Mine has been causing issues including bleeding for well over a year, but if you can control it with witch hazel and proctor foam that is preferable to surgery, the surgery is super unnice from what I understand. There are also changes you can make to your diet, drinking lot of water and eating healthy foods can help.

Since they are caused by squeezing out something too big(go figure!), the repeated actions will irritate the area. Afterwards, hardened stools will aggravate and enlarge them, or cause bleeding. The key is to avoid large hardened stools, which is a dietary issue, not to be confused with DIET(or as Garfield the cat says, Die with a T). Increasing your fiber intake, be it with fiber supplements or fibrous foods, and a healthy balance and portion of the other foods will help. I've had bad flare ups prior to that time of the month hitting, so I adjust my intake to help by eating leafy green iron rich foods and lighter proteins like chicken and fish, and easing up on the hard iron rich proteins like beef, as this type of iron also seems to aggravate them by making the stools harder. I also take a shot of chlorophyll in my juice every morning(for some reason, it helps build blood volume, which is good due to me having an issue with anemia. I don't question it too much, I take it because it works), which also seems to help process my foods better, and the stools are less like ejecting .50 cal bullets out me bum!.

WitchHazel wipes cleanse and ease pain, loads of extra fibrous foods, fiber supplements, and as a last resort, Dulcolax to soften the stools and make the issue lessened. Oh, and warm baths with epsom salt(it'll sting, but it will also clean the area, which is very important).

Surgery is for the very large ones that are untreatable with normal methods. I know some have gotten the surgery because they think they needed to(most doctors will tell you to do the surgery), or for cosmetic reasons(yeah, no really?), and have had a less than stellar reaction to it.

Hope you feel better.

Try or look up "Cayenne Extract." It is taken by drinking it, in water.
It has many health benefits, and per Doctors as well.
Hubby takes it, I do too just for health benefits.
Anyway, Hubby said it helped his Hemorrhoids.

But as always, see your Doctor if you have not already. But I know you know that already. :)

My hub has a bleeding one. The doc prescribed him some "silver bullets" that are to help heal it up.
Take Magnesium in the AM and PM, keeps your stools soft.

I am not sure if you have access to breastmilk or not or are a breastfeeding mom--but breastmilk does wonders for all sorts of ailments including hemorroids. Hope you get some help with this. Sometimes they stop bleeding but usually you need a little help or surgery to correct.
