Slacks/ Leggings/pants/pjs - Need Help Finding a Good Ones

I have no trouble finding good capris but when it comes to a full length pant - always a problem. If I buy a well fitting one , it always shrinks after one wash. And I can't use it anymore. I tried buying one size bigger and it gets too loose after washing. Length is fine but still can't wear those after wash. I am tall but not super tall - 5'6" , and I don;t face such issues with work trousers, jeans etc. I really need to find something to wear around the house or even outside when I run errands etc. I tried leggings but difficult to find opaque ones and the ones I found do not stay up well at the waist for me.
I see almost everyone wearing them.., even girls taller than me. So curious to know if you are one of those lucky ones and where you found those pants? I have bought from old navy , gap etc etc but everywhere same problem - if length is good it's very loose around my hips(I am not looking for super tight fitting, just normal relaxed fit) or if fits me well, it always shrinks after a wash.
I put them in the dryer , I don't have space in my apartment to dry clothes otherwise :( Do you air-dry yours always??
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am 5'6.5" with long legs I have a problem with elastic waist pants not being long enough in some brands. Old Navy are too short but Gap are just right. I buy a Medium. I never put in the dryer, I hang to dry. I have a folding rack that I put up. You can also throw them over the shower rod overnight. If I put them into the dryer they will be to short. Putting them into the dryer starts to break down the lycra and they don't last as long too.

It's really hard for me to find PJ pants. I cannot buy cotton ones as I like to dry my PJ pants. That really soft, thin, stretchy fabric that is made by Gillian O'Malley from Target work and they don't shrink. http://www.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-women-s-fluid-k...

I am 5' 6" but my legs are long for my height. My inseam is 32-33 inches so half my height. When you shopping for pants or jeans look for 'longs' with a low fitting rise, or the waist on the pants will hit above your own waist.

I would try shopping at Kohls or Penneys.

I don't wear leggings but my 18 yr old does have a couple of pairs along with her Nike workout leggings and we NEVER EVER put them in the dryer.

I have found some great quality jeans and pants at White House Black Market. I love them... They are comfy, don't stretch out, wash and wear very easily. I have denim jeans, white, bright blue and bright purpleish colored pants and shorts.... black, and hot pink. I love the quality of the clothing I get there. It is not cheap..... You get what you pay for.

I am on my 3rd year with the shorts so money wise, they only cost me a little over $20 a year to wear.

I've also found good quality at Anthropologie and Nordstrom.

I have a hanging rack over my dryer for some things but I also have a full guest bath and no one ever uses the tub/shower so I have a very sturdy rod in there and that serves as my drying spot for my clothes. I wash a LOT in cold water and air dry.

Air dry those leggings! Use a pants hanger and hang them from the shower curtain rod or from the top of the door trim overnight. They are light and should dry fast. The ones I like best are the Vera Wong brand from Kohls. All cotton or cotton blend, opaque but not too thick.

Leggings are not pants and never are to be warn as such no matter how old you are. I love Coldwater Creek slim leg jeans. So comfortable.

I had the same problem with the first couple pairs of yoga pants that I like to live in when home all day. I started removing them from the dryer when they were still damp, stretching them, and either hang dry or drape over a chair. Works well! I've gotten them at Target, Old Navy, Gap and Kohl's, and order the same size as pants, if they are sized that way. If not, large (I'm a size 12).

Wash in warm dry on perma press. Not all that much shrinking. Usually they're cotton knit so if they do shrink they stretch right back out once they're on.
