I am about 10 weeks pregnant and about 6 or 7 weeks ago I had strep throat it was the worst pain in the world I went to the ER cause I did not know what was wrong with me? So they gave me Keflex (I don't know the correct spelling) antibiotics. Then after finishing that I started to feel better and BAM I got it again!!!! So they put me on Amoxacillin I just finished that med yesterday and now I'm feeling it all over again! My throat hurts and I keep gettin chills body is sore even my back feels like its inflamed. On top of it all each time I am on antibiotics I get a yeast infection. The first time I fought it off naturally by eating yogurt and 2nd time I did the 7 day treatment. I don't know what to do. I am at my wits end with being sick AND having morning sickness ALLLLLLL at the same time!!! HELP any advice will help, should I go back to the dr?? help me

What can I do next?

I am shocked that they are giving you antibiotics when you are so newly pregnant. I got really bad sick (everything green) on Christmas day & because I was pregnant (17wks) the urgent care doc refused to treat me w/antibiotics. I called the oncall OB who said that the RX would just give me diarrea & a yeast infection, and as bad as I felt she promised it would go away on its own-it did eventually. But when I got sick this last week again with what felt like strep & a nasty nasal infection MY DOC did treat me with a Z pack (which I'm now freaked out to take). I don't know if it was my particular doc being more lax with meds or if it's the fact that I'm further along (23 wks).
But honestly you have put that little one through a lot of meds so early, I would say stick with the Tylenol for the fever & try some natural remedies-tea, steamy showers, gargle salt water, etc, if it doesn't go away in 7-10 days then go back to the doc. I know it sucks to hear, but this is a nasty flu season & having a little one especially if they're in pre-school (my little one is 2&1/2) doesn't help.

i would definitely see the doctor again. did they do cultures on your throat? because if you've already gone through 2 courses of antibiotics, they're not killing it. something else is going on.

do eat as many fruits and veggies of variety so you can keep your immune system healthy as well.

I hope you are keeping a journal. I love motherhood and its battle stories.

Honestly, you sound fiber and vitamin B deficient. Morning sickness is an indicator of that. Spinach, whole grains, kale, brown rice, all of that will help develop a strong baby AND a stronger immune system.

Do you have someone to help you rest?

I, myself, would try supplementing with grapefruit seed extract. Seems to work well for strep. Good luck,

definetly go back to the dr. Something is wrong. An infection could travel to the womb. Let us know how it goes.

I've been on Cephalex and Amoxicillin in the past month as well! Neither helped me. I recently went to an ear, nose and throat specialist here in the desert and am on a different antibiotic now and feeling much better. Contact me if you live in this area and would like his info.

Best,
M.
