Hello. I am considering purchasing a shopping cart cover for my one year old. Need to know, are they worth spending 50$ish on a buggie buddy type or 20$ish on a clean shopper or is there a better brand??? i have never used one with my older child and i am not sure if they are a hassle to use vs. just wiping down the cart with a clorox wipe??? Thanks!

I got a Clean Shopper when my oldest (now 4 1/2) was a baby. They weren't as popular then and hard to find in the stores. I got mine from Clean Shopper and I really loved it. I have a younger son but usually have him on my back so haven't used it too much with him yet.

Good luck!

Hi, C..

I have a 2 yo girl and I too didn't have one for my oldest, but things have changed. When I started looking, I looked for a pattern to sew one, as I knew it would be cheaper. Well, at the time they didn't so I finally broke down and bought the $50 one, as I really didn't like any others.

It is worth it, but if you know how to sew or someone who does then I would check looking into that. This way you can pick the pattern you want. With the $50 at Babys-R-US you only get red or blue. I have a girl and would have liked something different, but I took the red one.

Well, I hope I helped you out.

G.

I got the floppy seat as a shower present and I love it. I can hang his toys off of the toy loops and stash his cheerios in the little pocket. I keep it in my car so that I always have it when I need it. I thought they were only around $35 but One Step Ahead has a similar one that is a little cheaper.

Hi C.,
I understand your concern, with all the germs and stuff out there. I highly recommend the Floppy from Toys R US/Babies R Us. It goes completely over the front of the shopping carts the main area where they put their little hands. It is also washable. I have been using mine for the past 3 years. Good luck

C.,
Like you said, you didn't use one for your older child. I'm a Biologist. As long as you wipe the seat plate off with a clorox wipee, most things will die. The only place I would be paranoid about raising children is in Africa, where all the incurable deadly viruses of the world live. So, your baby isn't going to contract anything harmful by contact to the seat. There hasn't been anything so dangerous that's passed by contact on a cart seat ever reported. As a Scientist, watching parents worry about their children against germs, I can only advise to not panic. Children have immune systems. Immune systems get stronger as they get older. Save your troubles from hauling around a shopping cart cover. Pocket wipees are more convenient, but you really don't need either of them.

We have the Floppy cart cover. It was $50 at Babies R Us...and it was worth every penny! I didnt think we would really use it as much as we did! Our son loved sitting in it and it was so soft and comfy for him. It's made by the same company as the Boppy I believe..and we loved that just as much!
