I am wondering how long other mothers have waited before they had sex. I asked my doctor and she said 6 weeks was preferable. It's been four and half weeks and I'm not sure if we can wait any longer! My husband and I have always had a very active sex life but when we found out I was pregnant with a girl (when I was 5 months along), my husband immediately lost interest in sex. He said it was different because it was a girl. We had sex about three times during the next 4 months. Now we are very READY! :) FYI - I had a c-section on December 14th.
So we waited the six weeks (OK, two days short of two weeks) and BOY were we ready!!! Thank you so much for all of the advice, I truly appreciate it. It made me a lot more confident in my decision. Thanks, again!
My husband and I waited about 4 weeks after the birth of our son and closer to 6 weeks with our daughter. As long as it doesn't hurt and you're not bleeding (and you use birth control) it should be fine. It's different for every woman and every pregnancy.
Go for it. If you feel ready. I am sure your husband will be very careful and listen to you. Just let him know if something hurts. Use your own judgement. It is your body. However, do consider a condom because it is very likely to get pregnant at this time. I am glad to see that we were not the only ones rarring to go.
After my first birth (c-section), I waited 4 weeks. After my second birth (vaginally), two weeks. After 3rd birth (c-section), two weeks. I also had a vaginal hysterectomy and only waited two weeks. We only waited until the really heavy bleeding stopped. Just make sure he takes it slow at first. I think our sex was always the best after these things because it stimulates nerves that are extra sensitive.
With all three of my pregnancies, I have waited the full 6-7 weeks til I had sex again. I was just always nervous that it would do something and I wanted a "OK" from my doctor. But I have known people who haven't waited the 6 weeks and they were perfectly fine.
Well with your situation your main concern is simply tearing your incision. I had a vaginal and with my last two babies I had sex wayyyyyyyyy early. My last one the earliest at 5 days after having my daughter. All was well and your chances are even better of nothing bad happening. I would simply take it easy and slow and just enjoy it. No rough stuff....LMAO Good luck and it is worth the wait trust me. You have waiting long enough and have already shown yourself much stronger then me...lol. Have fun!
You know your body and if you are already having the urge to do it, then go for it. I waited about 5 weeks with my first two bc that was when I was ready. They say 6 weeks for the maximum wait time. I am pregnant now and when she is born, I'll do it when I feel good enough to just like I did before. So go have fun!!!
Six weeks is traditional across the globe. You see in Chinese, Native American, etc. Sort of a forty days and forty nights thing.
Check with your healthcare provider, but I think the bigger indicator is whether you are bleeding still. Rule of thumb: pp bleeding = no sex.
My husband and i couldnt wait long either, i had an emergancy c-section with my first boy (and couldnt have sex the last 4 months of my pregnancy b/c of bleeding), and a repeat c-section (we did it until the night before i went to the hospital to have him) with my second. we were told to wait 6 weeks, but we couldnt we just waited till i was done bleeding and carefully continued, at the first pain we stopped, when my dr. asked at the check up i was scarred to answer him truthfully but i did anyway and he said well then i guess that is fine as long as it doesnt hurt and you stop as soon as it does, he also told me to use some ky since after a birth some people have a hard time to lubricate. it is different for everyone, i personally dont see anything wrong with it like my doctor told me comman sense if it hurts stop if it doesnt hurt continue. I wouldn't only because if you do get pregnant then you'd be opening up a big nasty pandora's box! Your body is not completely healed from the inside. It could cause complications. But if he uses protection and your not bleeding then go ahead if it feels right for you. Congratulations on the new baby!
We waited 5 wks but mine was born vaginal and I didn't have any tearing/stitching. I am not sure what the protocol is with a c-section but I would think it has to do with the incision. You dont want it ripping open or getting iritated from the movement.
