Hi ladies! I am working on setting up a weekly calendar to post on the fridge that will let my preschooler know the events of the week i.e. preschool, library, etc. I am planning on lamenating a few different pictures to put on the different days so he will can easily look at the calendar but I was wondering if any one has any suggestions in regards to setting up this type of calendar and was has worked for you?
Thanks

So What Happened?

I ended up finding a great calendar at Office Max that is only from Monday - Sunday - this has really worked well to get him to know the days of the week. We picked out clip art online to represent school, Daddy working, etc and I lamenated them and I also took a pic of him and lamenated and move him from day to day. He has learned to look at the calendar everyday and even lets me know when I have not moved him!

ok, like a poster board or even 8x10 cardstock base, write the days of the week down the left had side, and then use tape or if you want to get fancy velcro dots. and then velcro or tape on your pictures.

I would suggest writing the word ex Library under the picture of the book or what ever that helps expose them to print and he might start recognizing L says "l"

You could use PHotos of him at each event preschool, library, grocery store, karate, etc Or look for clip art. It would be super cute to xerox or scan picture from his fav book, I can't think of an example of a cute library book, but it probably isn't legal to do that anyway.

hope that helps.

I did something similar for my son when he was about this age and he LOVED it. I found pictures on-line and made a morning checklist and a bedtime checklist, so he could help check off the items. It worked really well.

This is too large for the fridge, but I purchased a Melissa and Doug magnetic calendar at Home Goods (for much less than original cost). It's hanging in my daughter's room - high enough so that my toddler can't reach it.

This is the newest version - http://www.melissaanddoug.com/dyn_prod.php?p=3788

Mine has the following magnetic categories: season, year, months, and activities (anywhere from religious holidays to sports to school activities to doctors' appointments). It's fantastic b/c you can always "recycle" it each year - no laminating necessary!
