Seeking Private Swimming Lessons for 6-Year-old Son in Dedham Area

My children took lessons when they were 4 and 6 years old, at the Dedham Health and Athletic Cetner. You do NOT need to be a member to take lessons there. The classes were small, and we were allowed to stay and watch. They were also enrolled for a few years in the Town of Dedham summer program called "Swim and Gym". It is a combo of gym, swimming and arts and crafts , and my kids LOVED it. Extremely affordable. You sign up for that at the town offices. We stopped doing it only becuase they "outgrew" it.

The Dedham Parks and Rec deptartment has a great winter swimming program at their indoor pool that starts as early as age 2. My girls both started at 2 and LOVED it! The teachers are awesome. The classes are fairly small and it's very inexpensive! I believe there is also a woman who uses the Dedham pool for private lessons, but I don't know anything about her other than it's way more expensive.

check out dedham rec dept. I've heard they have swim lessons for very reasonable cost! I'm sure they have a website.

You do have a great complex at Dedham Health and Athletic Club like the other responders mentioned. If you are having difficulty finding a private swim instructor, you can try the YMCA in Needham, which is the neighboring, adjacent town. My kids have taken private lessons there and have been able to learn quickly. My son is also about your son's age. I have always done private lessons for them which is more costly, but I feel in the long run they will need less sessions b/c they are learning to swim at a faster pace than if they were in a class with other children.
