Hello Moms!! my husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost two years now and I've been taking clomid for the last 6 months because I have PCOS and do not ovulate on my own...I will be taking the last round of clomid next month and if all goes well we will be having an IUI done...my question is have any of you moms gone through this and what exactly was it like? my Doctor has explained what is necessary on our end for the procedure but what Im wanting to know is if it hurts, were there restrictions after it and so on...at this point any type of input will be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

M.,

I underwent IUI to conceive our daughter. I did not find the procedure painful just slightly uncomfrontable. At most, I expereniced a little bit of cramping (nothing severe) and went back to work right after. Lucky for us it worked the first time! I wish you the best of luck and don't worry about the procedure it really isn't a big deal. Good luck.

M.,

My father is a chiropractor. He had a patient come in his office that was trying to have a baby for 2 yrs and she started getting adjustments regularly and she is now 3 months pregnant. It took about 4 months of adjustments. This is not the first time that this has worked...
Might be an option. Can't hurt...

You should barely have any discomfort during the procedure. Afterwards you'll have this what I call full feeling in your abdomen is the only way I can describe it. I went and saw a movie afterwards and I know my sis-in-law went shopping immediately after and we both ended up pregnant. So really just relax and think good thoughts.

It has been just over 8 years since I had my IUI so needless to say I don't remember a lot, but I do remember it did not hurt at all. Right after it was done I had to lay in a certain position for quite a while. I do not remember any specific restrictions afterwards. I was not on Clomid when I had my IUI but was on Folistim (the Clomid didn't work til they had me to 250 mg and it was making me sick). I am happy to say that my 1st IUI took and I am now the proud parent of triplets who will be 7 yrs old the end of June. Good luck to you!

My husband and I had many IUIs done years ago (it never worked for us), but I don't think there are any restrictions. I remember that there was some discomfort (felt like a pinch way up there), but no pain after. Best of luck to you. Positive mental attitude is the most important, and just take care of yourself.

Hello M.,
I went through about 2 years of IUI's so I think I can help you in that area! I would talk to your doctor about the clomid since I understand that you can't take it more than 6 months anyway. Maybe try Folistim. IUI's are a bit uncomfortable if you aren't relaxed. If you need to focus on something while the cathiter is going in then do so. I sometimes took an advil beforehand in case there was a little discomfort (maybe about a 1/2 hour before or so). The restrictions after were just to take it easy for the remainder of the day (you'll need to stay laying on the table after the procedure 15-30 mins after... bring a mp3 player or a book to help pass the time...) Your doctor will allow you to have intercourse either that night or the next day. Good Luck!!
