If you read my synopsis about myself, you will see that I have many inquiries regarding our upcoming move to Douglasville, PA in September 2007. As many of you may understand, moving is very difficult both physically and emotionally. What I'm seeking is some support and information regarding your area. I'm someone who has always lived in the suburbs and/or city so this move will be very difficult for me since I'm not accustomed to a more rural area. The area itself is lovely, but I'm a bit apprehensive at the present time. I'm hoping that I will receive responses from a few Moms regarding my inquiries. My most important question is how do you feel about the Daniel Boone School District? I've attempted to seek information on the web regarding the school district, but unfortunately, there is much statistical information that I simply do not understand. Also, I'm seeking recommendations for Pediatricians, Family Practioners, Dentists, Opthamologists, Veterinarians, etc. Also, does anyone have an opinion regarding St. Paul's Luthern Church Preschool Program. I should probably let you know that I'll be residing right off of Route 422 and Route 662. I'm also seeking any references for hair salons, nail salons, tanning salons, etc. Maintenance for myself is needed. Are they any swim clubs in the area outside of AC Athletic Club? Grocery Stores any suggestions? Ballet studios, little gyms for my son. As you can see, I'm full of soo many questions at this time that any help would be greatly appreciated. I love people and meeting new friends. Are there ways in which you may suggest for me in meeting new friends in the community. Shopping, where do you shop? Overall, I guess I'm sounding a bit silly, but change has always been difficult for me, but I want to be strong for my husband, two children and my three dogs as well as for myself. Do you enjoy living in the area? Is there things to do? Restaurants, clubs, movies, parks. Any information that you may provide would make me feel soo much better and may ease the pain of leaving an area that I currently reside in much easier for me. This move is a relocation move. Thanks so much to all of you and hopefully I will hear from some of you soon. Maybe, we may even become friends. Best to all.

What can I do next?

hey G.... I just sent this and thought of a few more things, so I apoloize that you are getting it twice. I know a couple of women that go to Lords and Ladies Salon in Douglassville. I go to Picasso Salon and Day Spa in North Coventry. They have a website. Also, there is a new library in Exeter (not far from you) That should be a good rescource for story time and meeting other moms. I do remember seeing a gym in Exetr that looked nice on the outside, but I can't remember the name. Its on 422 West and its big. YOu can't miss it. good luck. you can e-mail me directly if you want. ____@____.com

Hi G.... I live in North Coventry which is about five minutes from Douglassville, just across the river. We moved here about a year ago, so I completely understand your concerns. Its awesome that you are reaching out and seeking advice ahead of time. My kids are in Owen J. Roberts school district so I can't help you with that. There is a dance studio in North Coventry called Dance One Studios. They are currently rebuildindg their studio in a Barn that is supposed to be awesome. I know alot of Mom's that take there kids there and it is supposed to be great. I don't know what township it is considered in once the barn is built and they are moved in, but it will be on 724 just across the river from Douglassville, so it should be very close to you. I joined the MOM's club after we moved here and that helped alot. You can get on the Mom's club website and they will give you the contact info for the club in your area. I think the biggest thing you will have to get used to is driving everywhere to find things. And once you get used to that idea its ok. It takes a little more work in this area to find the stuff you are looking for but its out there. There is a place in Pottstown, but it is not near you called Berks Gym. I think they have several locations and that is a great gymnastics place. If you google it, I think they have one in Reading which isn't too far for you. Reading may be a good place to do some searching. There is alot of shopping in Wyommissing and the outlets. I haven't been to either yet. A great health food store just opened in Douglassville. Its called Kimberton Whole Foods. Its not as large as whole foods, but the same idea. They do have a website. I haven't been to the Douglassville location yet, but am excited its there. Good luck! Sorry I can't be more specific as far as pediatricans etc.

It does take some time to get used to living here. I went from maple Glen and living in the city my whole life to very rural berks county. I have grown to enjoy the slower pace and i have found that over the years I have grown more patient, better mannered and have made real friends that truly care about em and my family and not what we have and where we buy our stuff.

Call me it would be a lot easier to help you out with all that you request. I am about 20 minutes from you closer to Lancaster county but I can always give you a start and as you make friends and drive the area you can find more places for yourself. Douglassville is an up and coming area and more stores and things are being built all the time. And you are not too far from the KOP if you need a little real retail therapy.
###-###-#### anytime after 12pm I am around.

There are a few moms groups in your area one is called Reading Area Moms on meetup.com and the other is Leesport Mothers and Children and they have a web page on yahoo. I think there is a new gym by you called Vhilla or something like that. I know there is a Lords and Ladies near you that is a day spa which would cover most of your pampering needs. I know there is an animal hospital in Exeter and there is a vet in Douglassville where my Grandmother took her dogs and she loed them. As for Pediatricians Reading Pediatrics seems to be a popular one. They have offices all over Berks County. There is also a Redners Grocery store nearby that you could do your shopping at. Hope that helped. When you get a chance check out the moms groups the laides there could give you a bunch more info on dance classes and all that other stuff.
