I was wondering if there are any mom's groups / play groups in the Barrington area. I am familiar with some in the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills/Crystal Lake area but I live in South Barrington and was hoping to find one in that area.

I am part of a great group in the areas you mentioned called Mom-2-Mom. But there are a couple of ways you can find ones in your area. First I would try Meetup.com and see if there is a group closer to you. We also started a yahoo group site and have found people do searches in that & maybe find a group for you.

I live in SB also. The SBC is a good place to meet other families. They do not have a playgroup but the pool is very popular in the summer. You will meet alot of people with children the same age. Alot of pregnant moms too. You need a membership to use the pool but it is free to residents on mondays. I have 3 little boys and a 2 year old little girl. They love the pool so we live there during the summer. They have some really cute classes for the tots. I met alot of people that way too. Maybe I will see you there:)
St. Annes has a playgroup and so does Holy Family. I also think the library has programs. Good luck!!!
