I know how you feel. It was hard to know where to start. I have a 14 month old so I went through this not too long ago. You can ask your OB/GYN, mine had a list of ones in the area and starred the ones that other mothers seem to like the best. You can also check adds in a community paper. Next start calling them and ask to set up an appointment if you feel comfortable from the conversation. They should always allow you to come visit the facility first! I ended up taking my little one to www.cmanva.com. I love it there. They have 2 locations and a ton of doctors, nurse practioners and even lactation consultants.

Some good questions to ask are: What type of after hours and weekend schedules do they have? What is the procedure for off hours? How do they feel about breastfeeding? (you want to feel comfortable with your decision whether or not you decide to do it)

I hope that helps! Good luck!

Virginia pediatrician is the best. They have a office in Springfield. Dr. Lisa Crim is one of the best pediatricians on Washintonian.com
I have two kids. I like Dr. Crim the best.

I second CMA, Children's Medical Associates. My friend and I have brought our first babies to this practice since they were born, one is 13mo and one is 10mo. They have very kind and caring doctors, nurses and even a developmental specialist. I would highly recommend this practice to many expecting mothers.

This pediatrics was referred from one of the parents to me before I had my son. He is now 5 months old, and I love this pediatrics! You can ask any questions, and they are available weekends and some evenings as well. I like the flexibility and knowing that I can call them and go into the office whenever I feel I have to. (Both my kids 8 years, and 5 months go there) Dr. Statts is their doctor.

Dr. Jorge Arnoldson is in Springfield and he is phenomenal. He has been friends with my parents for many years.
Eduardo Fox is not in Springfield but he is worth the drive. He was actually written up in the Washington Post. I went to grade school with him.

Good Luck.

Hello K....I cannot recommend a specific pediatrician in the Springfield area however I can suggest the following for how to find one and what to ask. I recently did this for my son who is now 7 months old (he was born premature). What we did was find two or three local pediatricians and then interview them...we brought questions from the Great Expectations book (pages 57-60) and we also asked them to share a little about what other people asked and were concerned about. We easily found our choice by the interview. We focused on things like how easy they were to reach (at all times) and would we be charged every time for an after hours call and could they attend to a preemie baby and a new mom. We also made sure the location was very easy for us to get to (less traffic, good parking, easy access into the building). We take our son to the KIDZ DOCS in Belle Haven, which is right off of Route 1. We can highly recommend them. In fact, the NICU Nurse we had at the hospital takes her children there and we also thought that was a good sign. Hope this helps a little!
